Another day of kicking ass in the food department, although I definitely did not eat enough or drink enough water, but slacking on my fitness once again. When I see my trainer tomorrow, I need to ask if sex can count for my low intensity time, cause it should. Especially when it’s this good.

And a little bit of morning inspiration to start the day off right. All winners for Bikini at this year’s NY Pro IFBB:

I just woke up, here is the agenda for today. I’m going to have some Oatmeal for breakfast and then stretch, do 2 hours of Just Dance 2, do leg and core toning exersizes and then go on the exersize bike for thirty minutes. At least I will try to get that accomplished. I’m going to have celery soup with peas for luch and then for dinner I have no idea yet. I’ll be back before I go to bed to log everything I actually did do and eat.

Mono eating - the practice of eating one particular food for an entire meal, in sufficient quantity to produce satiation until the next meal.

This can be seen in nature. Animals usually eat one food, and one food only, until they’re full. There are no “recipes” containing 5+ ingredients in nature.

Benefits:

  • Optimal digestion, absorption, and assimilation
  • Better able to recognize when you are satiated
  • Enhances your senses, so that you’re able to pick up specific tastes in your food
  • Helps you avoid addiction to stimulation and overeating
  • Doesn’t leave you tired and dull, instead: Awake, Clear head!
  • Simplicity. Preparation is as easy as cutting a watermelon in half and eating it with a fork.

Examples:

  • 4 Bananas (480 calories)
  • 3 Mangos (390 calories)
  • 1/4 of a Watermelon (340 calories)

It might take some time for your stomach to adjust to you eating such large amounts of food, since we are generally used to eating concentrated, high-calorie meals. This is where blending is a huge help. For example, I usually fix up some Banana Milk.. one of my favorite Mono-Meals. Be sure to “chew your smoothie” so that you get some saliva in with the food, and drink it slowly.

I’ve always had body issues. They stemmed from my parents constantly trying to push me into diets and telling me that I needed to lose weight. They don’t do it so much anymore. The reason I’m bringing this up is because yesterday I realized something: my mom also has body issues. I don’t know why this never occurred to me before. I was weighing myself for weigh in Wednesday and she was telling me how I should be exercising and eating right. This is when I started to get annoyed with her. She told me that she didn’t want me to get mad at her because she knows how I feels.

I’ve always been fat. Your father has always been skinny. I understand the struggle. I know what people think of us.

Then we both weighed ourselves, and we’re literally less than a pound apart. I never thought that my mother, a strong, independent woman, would have body issues. For all these years, I thought my parents were being highly critical. I guess they care.

(Daily Mail Reporter By MARK DUELL) — An abnormal growth of blood vessels on her left eye could have blinded her. But Christian couple Timothy and Rebecca Wyland relied on faith healing instead of taking infant daughter Alayna to a doctor.

Couple Timothy and Rebecca Wyland, members Oregon City congregation the Followers of Christ

Couple Timothy and Rebecca Wyland, members Oregon City congregation the Followers of Christ, relied on faith healing instead of taking infant daughter Alayna to a doctor

Her condition has now improved under state-ordered medical care but her parents have been convicted in Oregon of felony criminal mistreatment.

Alayna was born in December 2009 and developed the blood vessels that covered her left eye and threatened her vision.

But her parents belong to unorthodox Oregon City congregation the Followers of Christ, which relies on faith healing.

So rather than taking their daughter to a doctor, they relied on prayer, anointing her with oil and laying hands on her.

Clackamas County sheriff’s deputy Emile Burley testified in May that he made a child welfare check at the family home in June 2010, and instantly noticed a ‘large bulging area’ on Alayna’s left eye.

It was ‘the size of a golf ball, maybe a little larger’, he said - and photos shown in court suggest at one point that it was as big as a baseball.

Her parents said in another hearing last July they wouldn’t have willingly taken her to a doctor because it would violate their religious beliefs.

Around 20 supporters from their church were in court to hear the verdict, made by the jury in an hour, and sentencing was set for June 24.

Two other couples from the same church whose children died from untreated ailments have been prosecuted in the last two years.

Jeff and Marci Beagley got 16 months in jail after their son Neil, 16, died of complications from an untreated urinary tract blockage.

The Beagleys’ daughter’s husband, Carl Brent Worthington, was jailed for 60 days over the death of his young girl Ava, who had bronchial pneumonia and a blood infection.

They are expected to receive probation or some jail time, although the maximum jail sentence for first-degree criminal mistreatment is five years.

But the Wylands were the victims of inflexible bureaucrats and religious persecution because of their faith-healing beliefs, Mark Cogan, defending, said.

They were loving parents who fully cooperated with court orders, taking the child to the doctor and giving her prescribed medication, defense lawyers added.

But this defense was just a smokescreen, Christine Landers, prosecuting, said.

The couple had more than six months to seek medical attention before the state intervened but they did not because of their faith, she said.

The Wylands are the third couple from the same church to have been prosecuted by Clackamas County in just two years.

The Followers of Christ was founded in the 1890s in Kansas but moved to Oregon City in the 1940s.

The devout followers firmly believe that the power of prayer and the laying on of hands - where ministers lay their hands on believers while praying - can cure illnesses.

It’s thought that some followers secretly visit traditional doctors - but if found out, they are likely to find themselves ostracized.

5 Best Natural Sources of Calcium for Healthy Bones:

Collard Greens.  Leafy green vegetables are one of the most healthful sources of calcium and magnesium.  One cup of boiled collards contains a whopping 358 milligrams.  Kale, broccoli, Swiss chard, bok choy and turnip greens are full of calcium, too.  The one exception is spinach, which has a high concentration of oxalate, making it difficult for the body to absorb calcium.

Baked beans.  Beans in general are a great source of calcium, as well as a hearty non-animal protein.  One serving of baked beans contains over 100 milligrams of calcium.  Navy beans, white beans and garbanzos are also full of calcium and magnesium, as are soybean products like tofu.

Oatmeal. Surprisingly, two packets of instant oatmeal contains between 100-150 mg of calcium, and more magnesium than a cup of collard greens.  Quinoa is another calcium-rich grain.  Try either for a healthy breakfast.

Sesame seeds.  Just one tablespoon of sesame seeds contains about 88 milligrams of calcium, and about a third of the daily value for magnesium. Make sure to buy the unhulled kind, though, as it’s the seed’s hull (outer shell) that contains most of the nutrients.  Try grinding them up like flax seeds and adding to breakfast cereal or soups and salads.

Almonds.  Almonds are a nutritional powerhouse, providing a dense source of protein and fiber, along with calcium and other minerals necessary for building strong bones.  Just one serving has 750 milligrams of calcium.  Almonds, plain or mixed with dried fruit, make great snacks by themselves, or try replacing your jar of peanut butter with nutrient-rich almond butter.

This pretty infographic brings to light the profitable, and sometimes shady, relationship between pharmaceutical companies and doctors.

Month 2, Day 1

trying to get out of the 260’s has been the hardest part of this journey so far.  I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong.  maybe i’m not paying attention to my meals as much, or maybe my exercise routine is becoming stale and my body is getting bored, or even i’ve just been doing to many toning things, cause i feel like i lost more weight but there is a good chance it could all be muscle building.  I can’t wait for my birthday when i FINALLY get Zumba for the Wii! i need to shake it up a bit and attack my belly fat cause it’s basically the main problem for me.  although i only lost another 2 pounds this week i have officially lost overall 33LBS!!!! and that i am happy about. I’m staying strong though, i have no real reason to stop and waist all this work. I just need more advice and determination.

If any of you have any tips or have hit the same part in everything i have lemme know give some tips i’m open to any thing!

I was 6 days into my diet, and I caved and cheated in the best way I could have cheated. There was a ton of re-make’s and leftover pizza’s at work, and my shrimp and asparagus didn’t get me as full as I had hoped, so I ate, and ate, and ate pizza until I thought I would die. I didn’t feel any guilt, or disappointment because I know that I’m only HUMAN. Besides, who the fuck was I kidding when saying that I wasn’t going to have any of my Mom’s barbecue?! Hahaha! Now that the family gathering is behind me, and the new week has begun, I know that I need to get back on track and really put my best foot forward in hopes of losing more weight and getting healthy.

I drink about 7 cups of soda a day. And no water. Maybe some juice if I’m feeling frisky. But mostly soda.

I’ve also been snacking a lot at work.

This has led to a 9 lb weight gain after an overall 32 lb loss over a year.

So for the last TWO DAYS I cut back on snacking and drank between 2-4 bottles of water and no soda.

I’ve lost 5 lbs.

Wow. 4:30 in the morning and Aaron is definitely not going back to sleep. Outside the birds are just waking up. A lonely car makes the short down our one way street. My husband comes back to bed from the couch where he retreated around 1, or was it 2:00, when Aaron wouldn’t go to sleep the third time. “I’m going to sleep for another ½ an hour” he tells me. “Okay.” I scoop Aaron up. In the kitchen we make a quick bottle and then head into the living room where there is just enough space for two to work out with relative comfort. This morning I’m on my own. I turn on the tv and the PS3 we bought mostly for the Bluray features. It’s the thrum that gets me. The Beachbody, bad music, could be a porn but it’s not, that sets my blood pounding.

Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps is pretty crazy. Not because the exercises are nuts or the reps are out there, but just for sheer body fatigue. It makes me work. And sweat. And you know? I kind of like it. Aaron sits on his play mat (he’s not crawling yet, but he’s moving. He’s at a point where, even though he’s not crawling, if he wants something, he can get halfway across the room to get your phone)! He laughs at me through most of the work out. There are some exercises (like tri extensions) where he’s looking at me wide eyed and I can hear the thoughts “Really Mom? Really? That?” It’s pretty great to have an audience, even one who can’t talk. And when I fall doing push ups that require me to clap … and I fall … well, maybe I’m glad my audience can’t speak yet!

Then there’s Ab Ripper X. I get through ALL of the exercises except for Mason twists, Oblique, and Leg Grabbers, at 100%. And when I’m done I’m feeling it. This, on top of the 5k this weekend – I’m feeling it – but I’m feeling GOOD.

It’s six in the morning, I’ve worked out, and I’m ready to take on the day. Bring it, Bring it … On to diapers and work and clients and school. On to finding out what the rest of the world holds. Taking all of that on seems so much easier once I know I can take on all of this.

Hope your Monday is going well. And hey – if you want to join me, or you’re interested in trying anything out, just let me know. I’m happy to answer questions or get you a sample of Shakeology, or whatever I can do. I know I feel great – I want you to as well.

 Thanks for reading!

Healthy Skin Is A Breeze With The Help Of Certified Organic And Natural Beauty And Skin Solutions:

Most people are very concerned with the state of their skin, lately. That’s not really surprising, since there are thousands of skin care products on the market and more popping up every day. Makeup, moisturizers, lotions and soaps are just a few of the categories that they fall under. Unfortunately, though, many of them could actually be hazardous to your health. That’s why you should seriously consider using organic skin products as an alternative. The problem, you see, is that many people assume that traditional cosmetics are regulated and tested. Really, the government has little say, as far as what goes…

Today I got my treadmill, I’m super super excited to begin some legit exercise finally! I’ve lost 24.4lbs with very little exercise, so I’m excited to amp it up. The one time I lost a lot of weight in the past years and years ago it was from consistently using the treadmill.

I’m going to make myself turn into a complete exercise freak, I really want to be one of those people who claims to be “addicted” to exercise/the endorphin rush.

So for the rest of the week, I’m going to use the treadmill for a minimum of 2hrs a day. Aka 10 hrs. It will mostly be fast walking, a bit of jogging and a bit of running. With my intake I post everyday, I’ll also post my workouts and miles/km run. But I won’t post “net calories” I don’t think.

I weighed in at 239.8 lbs on sunday and I want to weigh-in at 234.6 lbs or less this sunday! Then I will have lost 30 lbs. Which will be spectacular. =]

Food wise or exercise wise, any suggestions?

Terry Pratchett initiates assisted suicide process:

Beloved science fiction and fantasy writer Terry Pratchett has terminal early-onset Alzheimer’s. He’s determined to have the option of choosing the time and place of his death, rather than enduring the potentially horrific drawn-out death that Alzheimer’s sometimes brings.

But Britain bans assisted suicide, and Pratchett is campaigning to have the law changed. As part of this, he has visited Switzerland’s Dignitas clinic, an assisted suicide facility, with a BBC camera crew, as part of a documentary will include Britain’s first televised suicide. Pratchett took home Dignitas’s assisted suicide consent forms.

From grungy to chic

I don’t think people understand that not eating actually does your body more harm than good. Diet in a healthier way.

It has been a long while since I have written anything in this blog about fitness. So I think that is what I will do before heading off to bed.I managed to get to the gym today to do a three hour session before doing other things.Normally I don’t work out for three hours but as with my body,it is taking longer for it to recover since I have reached 40 years old this month and which makes me suitable for an EKG test since at my ago I have a greater risked for a heart attack. But anyway getting back to the workout,I only did some light weights today just so that I can strengthen my left shoulder and do more cardio in the process because I think that the cake I ate last night really put on the pounds on my frame.Which made it harder for me to burn it off completely.I still have more work to do tomorrow or this morning in order for this cake to disappear from my belly and my thighs because cake, especially white cake which probably has a lot of chemicals in it.Chocolate cake probably has more chemicals than the white cake.Of course carrot cake contains a lot of calories.I didn’t head off to the gym that Sunday but I did get a yoga session in that Sunday which was good.

Today was actually a good day, towards the end.

I woke up 8am, for no reason and felt just insanely sad. What the hell. I did some planning and organising and forced myself to nap for 2 hours to get rid of my groggy headache. I chucked on an in season outfit I was trying for the first time and it turned out great. I went to my first chiropractic appointment ever and I have to say I’m quite impressed. Firstly the reception and staff were sooo nice. We did an assessment and took some x-rays and all of the areas I have pain in were spot on identified. The pain I have in my lower back, ribs and neck are from misaligned vertebrate and fluid and stuff. Apparently one that’s twisted may even have contributed to my sinus problems. It’s all so fascinating. I have to go back tomorrow to sort out treatment and stuff.

I also have an exam tomorrow. Need to study yet. I’m hungry and freezing. My boyfriend is complaining about how shit his day was because he didn’t get to play COD, because it was too much effort to move the console to the other tv and change the settings. I’m just like…. seriously? I had to go get my deformed spine checked out at a chiropractor today, I mention I went to the chiropractor and you didn’t even ask how it went, because complaining that you didn’t get to play video games was more serious. Wow. Now we’re talking about his insurance that this company isn’t paying him from his car crash, which is actually quite serious so I don’t really think video games were the real problem. It’d be nice to actually have someone care about how my day went though, and he should know better than anyone how serious of a problem my health is to me. Ah well, doesn’t matter.

-Gabby.

The following is my rendition of the Dalai Lama’s explanation of being fully healthy.

In order to be ultimately healthy, it starts with the mind. We must be strong in our minds and be able to control ourselves when the most extraneous of circumstances occur or even the slightest at the very least. Once we’ve reached that stage, nothing is impossible.

If our mind is at its full capacity health wise, our body will respond. Conversely, if our mind is unhealthy, our body will be unhealthy. If our minds are strong, our bodies will be strong.

Nothing will get in your way once your mind is cleared and at its full potential. I’ve seen this everyday. When students and teachers are stressed, they become sick, tired and just plain old sick and tired. Only you know your body, and you must know the signs of stress or mental ailments before you can fix your own problem.

I’ve played sports all my life, and when my mind isn’t positive or being productive, my body is done for, there is no other way to fix it other than starting back with the mind.

Be aware, learn from your body, and love it for it is truly your temple.

I don’t understand. I don’t understand why people are so afraid of food.

Recent internet trawling of a procrastinator-y nature has brought to my attention the MYRIAD of obsessive weight-loss programs out there that are entirely, in my opinion, too focused on casting FOOD as the enemy.

Food is not the enemy.

If you have a weight problem, (or even, for some people, weight at all!), you should not be typecasting such an essential, and wonderful, part of life, but instead, tackling the problem in yourself. Chances are, if you’re unhappy with your weight, you should be focussing on the part of yourself that is creating the problem, whether that might be a tendency to over-indulge, or a complete lack of exercise in your routine.

I know, it’s easier to blame others. It’s easier to blame McDonald’s and KFC, and that gorgeous butter cake that your great-aunt Mildred makes that you can never resist, but if you don’t tackle the deep-seated issue underlying, even if you do manage to, probably painfully, increase/decrease your weight to a desired number, it will just fly up/down again (depending on where your problem lies).

Chances are, it’s in your head, or in your attitude.

Also, on the other hand, to avoid type-casting, there are equally many sites that encourage their audiences to just gorge yourselves on these horribly decadent meals that are enough to turn your stomach. That is just sick. Sites like This is Why You’re Fat and EpicMealTimes on Youtube aren’t combating the influx of negative food stereotypes that come from these crazed “Get Fit! Get Healthy! Get Thin!” schemes.

Rather, they’re just advocating the problems balancing on the other end of the spectrum.

Just as obsessive avoidance of meals is unhealthy, so is binging.

Eat balanced meals. Eat healthy meals, with nutritionally balanced portions. Eat salads. Eat meat. Eat ice cream. Eat chocolate.  Just don’t eat too much or too little of any of them.

And for heaven’s sake, if you need it, just jump on the treadmill and stop blaming food.

How do you know if you have a eating disorder? This site gives a handy list of symptoms. If you have an obsession with avoiding meals or binging, SPEAK to someone about it. Or, if you’re uncomfortable, there are resources out there with your doctor, or just at home, online. Do a quick internet browse!

Stop victimising yourselves.

Note: If you have special nutritional requirements, please PLEASE PLEASE disregard this tirade completely. Listen to your doctor. They know better.

(Note for those curious about the Hebrew, the video is from an Israeli news channel. The first question simply asks you your gender and the second your age. You may click whichever to get to the video, which is in English.)

NJ Small Business Health Insurance for Your Employees:

It is not easy to make your employees stay for a long time if you are an owner of a small company. This is one thing that is hard to manage when it comes to running your own business. It is a natural way of people to always seek for jobs that can give them more benefits. They can even choose to start their own businesses as long as they have enough resources to do it.

Jumping rope is not just for kids. In fact, it is one of the most complete, overall workouts that burns more calories per minute than most other forms of exercise, including running.

It can be done just about anywhere without anything more than a good jump rope and cross training shoes. If you’re looking to rev up your exercise program, consider adding a couple of days or jumping rope to your regime.

Today I finished the Slimquick Ultra Caffeine Free Calorie Burner(pills) and just started the Slimquick Ultra Fat Burner (drink mixes)

I think the pills were very effective in what the box said they would do, I haven’t weighed myself and won’t weigh myself until my birthday (June26) so I can’t say how much I lost with the pills.  But I will say my hunger was suppressed I had a lot of energy I see a big difference in my body and I would recommend this product to anyone looking to lose weight.

Weight Loss Motivation Tip

Ok everyone on Tumblr seems to measure weight in pounds.. Majority seems to be Americans.

Tip; In Ireland, if you’re weight yourself, you don’t just say “Oh I’m 180 pounds!”, you measure by STONE.

One stone = 14 pounds.

So if you’re 180 pounds = 12 stone and 8 pounds.

This motivates people a LOT more. Now the person will only have 1 pound to loose to get to the half mark. And 8 pounds to loose to get to 12 stone!

And 12.8 sounds a lot better than 180.

Think smart when loosing weight! :P

I’ve had about 1,122 calories today and only burned about 155. I binged today and I feel awful.

Introduction.

So it’s 12:28 am and I’m wide awake. Thinking for the millionth time that I need to NOT be fat. I’m thinking to myself that maybe; just maybe if I take the step and reach out for some support of other people with the same problem that I can possibly make it.

Hi, I’m Ashley. I’ve always been overweight. It seems like ever since I was a little kid I’ve had stretch marks on my body that I’m had to cover up. I will probably never be able to wear a sleeveless dress or tank top, not even on my wedding day. I destroyed my body before I even knew what it was worth.

Like every other fat girl on earth I want to be skinny. If I can just get some support I think I can make it through this hurdle. In my household, talk about weight loss is taboo at the least. Every single one of the people in my house are overweight. Every one of us for a different reason. I try to get them to work out with me but it never goes right.

So tonight, I’m going to get some rest. I’m going to wake up and start working out and eating healthy. I’m currently unemployed, it’s summertime I have no excuse not to. So anyone out there who would like to follow me on my journey, I’ll be glad to accept you as a follower. Even if I don’t ever have a follower I’ll be ok. Just so it’s out there I will be happy.

Love Ashley

I've consumed 800 calories today and have burned 2203

I feel fine though a little hungry but I just ate dinner so I’ll have some water. I got a really good workout today and I feel a little sore but it’s a good kind of sore. :D yay!

Yesterday

was pretty good until Boyfriend wanted to eat frozen yogurt and I have no self control. Could have been worse though, I didn’t finish the whole thing.

I ate: strawberries, blueberries, grapes, yogurt, a 100 calorie bar, chicken and mushrooms for dinner (no bread, high five!) and then the stupid yogurt. I tried to have a banana but it wasn’t ripe enough. Produce fail :-(

STILL can’t work on my fitness though, wtf? My little sister is 17 and in high school. LOVES the gym. But she doesn’t have a care in the world. I’m 25, I have a career during the day, I’ve been looking for a house for the past year, I come home in the evening and want to be a pile. How do I get over the hump?
