Wearing a dress I haven't worn in forever 'cause my stomach's gotten flatter!

(I know I seem to say this every month but….)

I want to be beautiful

I want to feel amazing

I want to stay healthy

I want to get in shape

I want to feel skinny and small

I want to go back to that size 2-1 I used to be a year or so ago

On Thursday mornings I have to do a 5am run.

Sleeping Boston Terriers

It makes me angry - very, very angry.

I looked like this

Sleeping at the gym

Fine - I looked like this

angry baby

I pay attention to my speed, since it’s the shortest run of the week. It’s awful!

I run inside on my treadmill, because I fear I’d throw myself into oncoming traffic outside (true story)

This morning - I ran my 2 miles in 20 minutes and 39 seconds.

I’ll get there….

someday

I just love a good BEFORE vs. AFTER!

I’ve had a draft of this post sitting here for a few days. I wanted to talk about weighing myself daily and how short-term plateaus need to kept in perspective. I wanted to talk about how my body seems to go through a cycle of holding onto fat for a few days, then burning it for a few days.

I originally started this post on Monday, when I was disappointed that all of my hard work over the weekend hadn’t translated onto the scales. I weighed in around 102kg on Saturday morning (an excellent result at the time), but was 103kg on Sunday night after a weekend of running, cycling, and a visit to the gym.

I was mindful of how my body seems to go through cycles: it holds onto weight for a few days, then burns fat for a couple of days. I figured it would be a good time to explain what I thought was happening and cite the weekend as the perfect example of this. I was convinced the day I dropped a kilo was just around the corner.

On Tuesday I put on 100 grams. No big deal, but still frustrating. It was four days since I’d lost any weight, but the big drop was just around the corner.

On Wednesday I was still 103.1kg and was starting to make deals with myself: “Keep up the exercise and diet, and if you haven’t dropped any weight by Friday morning we’re going to have a binge day.” After my second run of Couch to 5km week seven, I weighed myself and felt like throwing the scales through the window when I hadn’t lost any weight.

On Thursday I finally dropped some weight, but it was only 400 grams. Normally I’d be pretty happy with that, but I was still heavier than I was in the morning six days previous. Given that my goal is to lose around one kilogram every five days, that wasn’t good enough.

Then I weighed myself today — 101.5kg. Finally I’d broken through, just in time to save myself from a binge day which would put me even further off track. Now I’m back to being ahead of my goals and am re-enthused.

So, as I said, short-term plateaus need to be kept in perspective. They don’t necessarily feel short-term at the time, but as long as you keep the exercise and dieting up, you’ll get there.

I have unintentionally made today a fruit day. I love fruit. I have to go to the store at my lunch hour and pick up a couple of fruit smoothies and protein drinks.

Intake: Banana, 1 Cup Fruit salad (Watermelon, Mango, Strawberries, Grapes & Banana), & Coffee

Outake: 20 Squats, 20 Lunges, 25 Dead Lifts

More later!!

What we are about

Most beginner runners start out using a run/walk technique because they don’t have the...

I’ve been thinking about trying P90X for a while now. I think I’m finally in good enough shape to try it.

I tried the original P90 program a couple years ago and it was pretty good.  It’s a lot less physically demanding but I was still too fat to do the all the yoga work.  lol

I heard Insanity is good too.  My friend Mark raves about it.  After one workout his clothes are completely soaked in sweat.

Month 2, Day 1

trying to get out of the 260’s has been the hardest part of this journey so far.  I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong.  maybe i’m not paying attention to my meals as much, or maybe my exercise routine is becoming stale and my body is getting bored, or even i’ve just been doing to many toning things, cause i feel like i lost more weight but there is a good chance it could all be muscle building.  I can’t wait for my birthday when i FINALLY get Zumba for the Wii! i need to shake it up a bit and attack my belly fat cause it’s basically the main problem for me.  although i only lost another 2 pounds this week i have officially lost overall 33LBS!!!! and that i am happy about. I’m staying strong though, i have no real reason to stop and waist all this work. I just need more advice and determination.

If any of you have any tips or have hit the same part in everything i have lemme know give some tips i’m open to any thing!

I was 6 days into my diet, and I caved and cheated in the best way I could have cheated. There was a ton of re-make’s and leftover pizza’s at work, and my shrimp and asparagus didn’t get me as full as I had hoped, so I ate, and ate, and ate pizza until I thought I would die. I didn’t feel any guilt, or disappointment because I know that I’m only HUMAN. Besides, who the fuck was I kidding when saying that I wasn’t going to have any of my Mom’s barbecue?! Hahaha! Now that the family gathering is behind me, and the new week has begun, I know that I need to get back on track and really put my best foot forward in hopes of losing more weight and getting healthy.

I drink about 7 cups of soda a day. And no water. Maybe some juice if I’m feeling frisky. But mostly soda.

I’ve also been snacking a lot at work.

This has led to a 9 lb weight gain after an overall 32 lb loss over a year.

So for the last TWO DAYS I cut back on snacking and drank between 2-4 bottles of water and no soda.

I’ve lost 5 lbs.

FIVEPOUNDSINTWODAYS.

I’m a happy girl :)

For your daily dose of “things that make Athena really angry”.

I woke up this morning pretty sure I was finally going to drop below 123.0, but the food baby from last night (the Giant-est Salad In The World) means I was actually 124 instead :(

And do you know when this plateau started?  When I started chew/spitting again.  I really should give it up, but it’s just so hard to do.

I’m supposed to get my period on either Thursday night or Friday morning which means I’m going to be gaining weight which means I need to workout harder

http://undressedskeleton.tumblr.com inspired me to do this. lol love her blog

Wow. 4:30 in the morning and Aaron is definitely not going back to sleep. Outside the birds are just waking up. A lonely car makes the short down our one way street. My husband comes back to bed from the couch where he retreated around 1, or was it 2:00, when Aaron wouldn’t go to sleep the third time. “I’m going to sleep for another ½ an hour” he tells me. “Okay.” I scoop Aaron up. In the kitchen we make a quick bottle and then head into the living room where there is just enough space for two to work out with relative comfort. This morning I’m on my own. I turn on the tv and the PS3 we bought mostly for the Bluray features. It’s the thrum that gets me. The Beachbody, bad music, could be a porn but it’s not, that sets my blood pounding.

Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps is pretty crazy. Not because the exercises are nuts or the reps are out there, but just for sheer body fatigue. It makes me work. And sweat. And you know? I kind of like it. Aaron sits on his play mat (he’s not crawling yet, but he’s moving. He’s at a point where, even though he’s not crawling, if he wants something, he can get halfway across the room to get your phone)! He laughs at me through most of the work out. There are some exercises (like tri extensions) where he’s looking at me wide eyed and I can hear the thoughts “Really Mom? Really? That?” It’s pretty great to have an audience, even one who can’t talk. And when I fall doing push ups that require me to clap … and I fall … well, maybe I’m glad my audience can’t speak yet!

Then there’s Ab Ripper X. I get through ALL of the exercises except for Mason twists, Oblique, and Leg Grabbers, at 100%. And when I’m done I’m feeling it. This, on top of the 5k this weekend – I’m feeling it – but I’m feeling GOOD.

It’s six in the morning, I’ve worked out, and I’m ready to take on the day. Bring it, Bring it … On to diapers and work and clients and school. On to finding out what the rest of the world holds. Taking all of that on seems so much easier once I know I can take on all of this.

Hope your Monday is going well. And hey – if you want to join me, or you’re interested in trying anything out, just let me know. I’m happy to answer questions or get you a sample of Shakeology, or whatever I can do. I know I feel great – I want you to as well.

 Thanks for reading!

I honestly think that a healthy weight loss does not have to consist of boring plain veggies, fruits, and lean meats… or just the typical “eat salad everyday”. Dress up your food a bit, add some spice, seasoning, and flavor! Of course, choose wisely

It’s the boring food that get most people of track and leading back to the less healthy choices. Make your weight loss experience worth while, because it takes a lot of time. So take the time to make amazing foods that’ll keep you going until you reach your weight goal and even the rest of your life!

Be creative lovelies!

So I got crazy excited last night, because I was 117.0, which is 0.2 lower than I was that morning! Normally I go down by about a lb overnight. So why this morning was I exactly the same? Anyone got any idea’s?

I hit 128 pounds today!

That means I’ve lost 9 pounds so far. (:

Sorry I’m really bad at updating this blog. :(

things i want to be able to wear:

1. new shorts! i bought them today (they were uber marked down on clearance, and i couldn’t help myselfff)  i went to Target to find some new bras, and after i tried on a bunch and gave up i found these shorts and didn’t want to waste any more time trying them on. they only had size Large.

Okay, now i’m going to venture on another direction:

the idea of my ass fitting into a size Large in Juniors is unheard of, okay? all of the women in my family have very very large backsides(we’re 100% whitest of white). i’m always a size 12 and its always super tight on my butt and thighs and then lose in my waist. when i started putting on weight, it all went directly to my stomach which started fitting into my size 12s and ventured into size 14 occasionally.

so now i’m losing weight, losing my tummy, not losing my butt. which is okay. its certainly who i am and i’m not willing to give my junk up entirely. however i’m totally looking forward to having a nice, smaller, toned backside to show off in nice floral shorts that i just bought.

back to the shorts. they only had large. i figured i might as well buy them as a goal. well, i got them and tried them on and they fit. “fit” means they go on my body, which is something noooo size large anythings do. so that was a huge acomplishment for me. however, they are skin tight.

i can’t even explain how impossible it is for a large to fit on my butt. like, i can’t. and it does. but i want to feel great in them! i’d never wear them in public like this, so i want to feel comfortable and great in them

so that’s goal number one.

2. my size 12 jeans. i bought them really tight and i could never wear them because it almost made me sick how tight they were (i’m broke okay) its so stupid that i can’t wear them now because they’re 12s and i can button them but they’re so tight on my stomach still, and i want to be able to wear them! it will be a really great moment when i can comfortably wear those.

3. i had another one what the hell was it.

3.

3.

3.

3.

I sometimes wonder if I’d be less afraid of rejection if I weren’t so large.

The personality I used to have is completely gone. The confident in your face chick is gone! The show everyone my tits is gone. The I like everyone is gone.

Well… I know that being smaller isn’t going to miraculously change my life but perhaps it will change my approach.

I fell down the past few days and am mustering up the nerve and confidence to go again. I’m not really mad at myself because I haven’t given up and it’s been 4 months since I started this journey. I don’t have a lot of weight loss to show for it, but I can honestly say that my mind is still where it needs to be. It’s not as focused as it could be but I say some effort is worthy of recognition. It’s better than ignoring it and doing nothing. Right?

Ugh. I hope so. I hope I don’t drop dead before I manage to get all of this under control.

(deep breath)

So, tomorrow, I try again. Tomorrow I’m going to be on top of shit, be prepared. … no bullshit. I need to feel lighter and not so heavy. I think a lighter step would mean a lighter heart.

Maybe?

Before you do ANYTHING else you need to run out and buy this:

Sure, the nutritional facts on the package may say that it has 190 calories per serving but this is a lie! The truth is that all dinosaur-themed products actually have negative calories!!! Yep, that’s right. Forget celery and apples, eat this stuff and you’ll reach your goal weight and be skinnaayyy in no time!

So Tomorrow I promise I’ll do measurements/weight and whatnot because I’ll be home! Back from California!

Goodmorning my little love bugs!?

after doing some calculations, I’m about to drop well over a grand in order to be a member of acsm, acsm certified personal trainer, a acsm certified health fitness specialist, & acsm certified exercise specialist. THESE CERTIFICATION BETTER GET MY ASS A JOB!!! LoL~

  • Find your motivation - This is always the hardest part. Overweight, want to be in shape, want energy, whatever your reasoning is, CLING TO IT. Pick some kind of exercise that will be fun for you and give it a shot!
  • 1, 2, 3, stick with it! - This is the next hardest part! Once you pick your exercise & routine, you need to do it at least 3 times or for at least 1-2 weeks (depending on how often you are exercising) to make sure you aren’t going to give up too soon. They say it takes 6 months to build a routine/habit and make it second nature, but I’ve found that just getting into a routine can be really hard. I love swimming, but I always find excuses not to go and you have to push yourself to go because you KNOW how good it feels afterward!
  • Push - Depending on your situation, you might want to confer with a medical professional or personal trainer about what will be the best method for fitness for you. Setting short term goals (“Next time I’m going to run for 2 minutes longer”) can really help strengthen your resolve and your body.
  • Don’t lose sight - Remember what your goal is and again, keep it realistic and healthy. Maybe you are just looking to fit back into your favorite pants
  • JUST SHUT UP ALREADY - At some point, you will get complacent about your exercise routine and either want to stop because you feel “good enough” or you just lose the drive. Mix it up and find that motivation again! Set new goals! Try something else! If you stop, you will go back to being lazy and have to start all over. Breaking your routine can be suicide to your overall fitness, so buck up and just do it.

I made this up for the hell of it. It fits how I’ve felt about exercising/getting fit. I’m only into my second week this year (last year I swam for 2-3 months and then went on vacation and hit “just shut up already” and stopped), so I’ve got a lot more pushing and goals to meet, but

- Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred

- 2 km run
