Discussion with adults can decrease teens’ marijuana use
Denise Walker, co-director of the University of Washington's Innovative Programs Research Group, disagrees. "It's not a risk-free drug," she said.
"Lots of people who use it do so without problems. But there are others who use it regularly - almost daily - and want to stop but aren't sure how." "Many teens also have concerns about their use, even if they're not sharing them with family or friends," she added.
The participants in the motivational interviewing group-in which the health educator and student discussed the student's marijuana use and how it might be interfering with the student's life, goals and personal values, and about social norms of how much others use the drug-started the study using marijuana 40 out of the previous 60 days. Three months after counseling they had decreased their use 20 percent, to 32 out of 60 days. After a year they still showed a 15 percent decrease, 34 days out of 60. The study was published in the journal Psychology of Addictive Behaviors. (ANI)

Health Benefits of Eating Strawberries
It said eating the fruit helps boost antioxidant levels in the blood, reports the Daily Mail. Higher levels of antioxidants have been found to combat the effects of oxidative stress, lessening the effects of ageing and even the chances of contracting diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. To cone to the conclusion, Spanish and Italian researchers fed 12 healthy volunteers half a kilo of strawberries over two weeks. Results showed that eating strawberries regularly can boost levels of antioxidants in the blood and also help prevent red blood cells undergoing haemolysis, a process which sees them fragmenting.
Scientists from Marche Polytechnic University in Italy and the University of Granada in Spain say that the power of strawberries lies in the high levels of phenolic compounds they contain, which have antioxidant properties. Oxidative stress can also occur as we age, when we exercise or even give birth, highlighting the potential of the humble soft fruit.
"We have shown that some varieties of strawberries make erythrocytes more resistant to oxidative stress. This could be of great significance if you take into account that this phenomenon can lead to serious diseases," said study author Maurizio Battino, from Marche Polytechnic Univesity. The finding was published in journal Chemistry.(ANI)

Simple way to stay slim 'Eat quality food to lose weight'
Consuming bigger amounts of healthier food rather than smaller amounts of poor quality produce is the key, the express.co.uk reported quoting experts Thursday. Experts at the Harvard School of Public Health in America revealed that small lifestyle changes can make all the difference to staying in shape. They said focusing on calories alone would not keep you slim. Instead, the best way to stay at a healthy weight is to eat nutritious and filling foods of good quality.
They recommend that people watching their weight need to cut out fizzy, sugar-sweetened drinks, potatoes and refined grain foods like white rice and low-fibre breakfast cereals. And they should eat a lot more “natural” foods, like fruit and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and yoghurt, while avoiding anything processed.
“Small dietary and other lifestyle changes can together make a big difference - for bad or good. This makes it easy to gain weight unintentionally, but also demonstrates the tremendous opportunity for prevention,” the report quoted Dariush Mozaffaria, study co-author as saying. Nutritionist Angela Dowden said: “This research singles out once again the benefits of minimally processed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and yoghurt.
“As well as being nutrient-dense they are satiating and their fibrous nature also require slightly more energy to digest. “It is not so much that calories don’t count - they definitely do - it’s more that a healthy pattern of eating makes it easier for you to feel full on fewer of them.” The findings, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, also showed the right amount of sleep helped people maintain a healthy weight.(IANS)

Getting things done
So did this morning, I did a couple of groovy and useful things.
Firstly, I went to the Doctors. We chatted vaccines; she told me to look at a website called mdtravelhealth. It tells you country by country which vaccines you’ll need. She told me to print off the page for South Korea and bring it in to my GP surgery, where they’ll arrange an appointment with the travel nurse for the relevant vaccinations. By the looks of things, it seems Hep A, Hep B and typhoid are the only things I’ll really need since I don’t plan spending a huge amount of time in rural areas or with animals and my tetanus is up to date. Just need to check my diptheria-polio info.
My GP also gave me a prescription for a year’s worth of the pill, which is awesome. I won’t need any more until June/July next year by which time I should know more about the Korean health service and be more confident with my Korean in trying to get hold of it, since I need a specific type.
I also bought my suitcases today. It’s pretty light, four wheels, and it’s teal! I picked up my new glasses last week. Only three and a half weeks left of work. Things are moving quickly!
Biggest Loser.
In 2004, brain scans showed that people taking Accutane suffer a 21 percent decrease in frontal brain activity, the part of the brain that plays a critical role in mood and social interaction. These brain changes may explain the depression, suicidal and aggressive behavior, and psychotic reactions reported by some Accutane users.
I took Acutane in high school. Maybe I would have had a better high experience without it. Looking back, I wish I had known more about food and health. If I had eaten differently, I think my skin would have been better and I never would have needed it.
purple potato eater on Flickr.
I call this dish the purple people eater.
1 lb Peruvian purple potatoes (or whatever you have on hand)
1 red onion grilled or sauteed
1 garlic clove
Parsley (or any fresh herb)
S&P
Earth Balance (or Olive Oil)
Juice of half of a lemon
As you can see this recipe is very very easy and you can adjust it to your taste.
I cleaned the potatoes and slightly boiled them, then drizzled with Olive oil and roasted (at 400 degrees.) While they are in the oven saute or grill your chopped purple onion in Olive oil or earth balance and mix in garlic at the end just to slightly heat. After removing potatoes from the oven when the are slightly brown, mix with previously grilled purple onions and garlic, then sprinkled in lemon juice, olive oil to coat (or earth balance) and fresh herbs of your choice. I used parsley in this photo. Garnish with herbs and a bit more lemon. Bon Appetit!
PS The lemon is crucial to this dish as it is what brings back the purple color when the potatoes are cooked! :)
It’s not even 11am and it already feels an eternity. So I should update you guys, not sure how many of you actually read my text posts but whatever. My boyfriend’s mom went to the hospital with sudden intense confusion. She has regained some lucidity but where she remembers some things, she forgets others.
It’s looking more permanent by the day :[ she was supposed to get an MRI yesterday so we should hear of the results from that today. It’s terrible, the boy is 23 and already lost one of his parents last July. Losing both parents in just a year…I can’t even imagine. I am just so thankful I could be here for him.
Please put him and his mum in your thoughts guys, and put that positive and healing energy out there. They really need it right now.

Bottom line: We don’t know the real risks of excessive cell phone use to our health. There is simply insufficient evidence to make a firmer statement than what the WHO has made with their “may be linked to cancer” report.
I like this video from CNN with Anderson Cooper because it does discuss a very simple and real prevention action: use an earpiece.

Want to buy a bra that protects your health as well as cleavage? Women will soon be able to buy a “smart bra” that is able to detect early-stage breast cancer. Recent innovations in the science of thermography and its use in detecting breast cancer may lead to apparel items such as bras being used as a early-warning signal.
This smart bra was invented by Dr. Elias Siores, Ph.D., who holds the position of Director at the Centre for Research and Innovation at the University of Bolton in the United Kingdom. So how does it work? The bra uses a microwave antennae system integrated into the fabric of the bra, which detects abnormalities such as temperature changes in breasts.
Temperature changes represent increased blood flow which may indicated the development of tumors related to breast cancer. As these tumors grow, there is a higher demand for blood flow, which would then alert the user via the bra. The bra would then warn the user to seek medical consultation.
Work still needs to be done to increase the accuracy of the device, as there are many reasons for an increase in blood flow. However, Dr. Siores believes this technology is viable and is currently working to increase the sensitivity of the new technology in order to better distinguish tumor development from more benign reasons. I have no doubt this technology would be extremely popular and beneficial to women.

So I was eating a gigantic piece of chocolate when…
I saw that the latest catalogue for Anthropologie had arrived. Naturally, I’m too poor to get anything from there that is not on sale, but I started perusing through potential fall bargains in the June edition of: “if only you were rich.” When suddenly, I came across this photo. This girl looks so elegant. And LOOK! She’s eating something! Granted, she’s probably not actually eating whatever this is. So, to make a long story short, I saw this picture, put the damn chocolate back, and walked upstairs. That’s true inspiration for ya.
Here’s the full catalogue if you find yourself stuffing some food in your mouth on this fine evening:

Woot! I celebrated by eating a chocolate donut, a small piece of berry crumb cake, a chocolate chipper from Panera, and an iced grande cinnamon dolce latte. And half a bag of cheddar popcorn.
Don’t worry, there was some space between these things. A couple minutes, at least.
they’re called mio, and they’re really neat! they take your heart rate, tell you how many calories and grams of fat you burn in a workout, how many minutes you spend in, above and below your target heart rate and your average and max heart rates during a workout! the best part is, if you touch and hold the outside of the watch face, it takes your heart rate right there! it also connects to the computer with this chest strap thing and you can upload all of the information to a website.
hopefully i can have it all worked out by friday, because there’s a big pile of instructions i still need to read!
The Boss is having a rough night. She’s thrown up four times in the last six hours, and she has a slight fever. So far, no bloody stool or eardrum-rupturing screams. Just a kid who’s too hungry to sleep yet too sick to eat or nurse.
I hope she’ll be okay.
Today wasn’t too terrible, health wise. For breakfast, I had two slices of ham and a pickle (we were all out of eggs). Lunch: chef salad with low calorie/low fat dressing. It was a very scrumptious salad, I’ll be having another one later. I had some pistachios for a snack, and a lemon-pepper pork chop and green beans for dinner. For dessert, I had honey roasted peanuts, and thought I was doing quite excellently until my dad gave me cherry pie and vanilla ice cream. I didn’t want to be rude, since it was so sweet of him to make it for me, so I had it. Dessert has always been my weakness. Overall, I think it was a good day.
Something that’s been helping me is thinking, “Would I rather have this now or be skinny later?” And more often than not the answer it in favor of the latter. Another thing that was helpful was thinking of my daily carbohydrate allowance as money. Do I want to spend that ‘money’ on potatoes at dinner, or on ice cream at dessert? Since I’m a fan of dessert, the answer is almost always in favor of ice cream. :P
Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day! I’m feeling optimistic about the future. I hope you are too.
Today was a very big slab of proof in just how far my body has come since moving to NYC. Yesterday, inspired by an episode of Anthony Bourdain trekking around Boston, I ordered a pastrami sandwich after work in a nearby deli. Oh my fucking god, was that thing full of meat. It looked more like a cave where a small monster could hide out, rather than a sandwich. I ate it with relish, over stuffing myself, but enjoying the taste anyway. I sincerely regretted that decision however, at 2 in the morning trying to go to sleep with a lump of meat in my tummy. If I’d been in Orlando, this wouldn’t have been a problem. My bedroom was built within the garage, where we kept an extra fridge for all of our food. So I often fell asleep in high school and my early college years, after self medicating with slabs of meat, potatoes, sugary drinks, and whatever else I could get my hands on. I went to sleep better with food in my belly.
But those days are far over. My bedroom now lies 3 stories high of any food source, and I took up dog walking as a job which did an immense job of exhausting my body in all the right ways. My cousin also doesn’t eat a lot of red meat, so most of my diet turned into heavy vegetables, and fruits. The occasional fish or chicken, maybe turkey pops in too. Slowly but surely my body changed gears, and I happily went along with it. Seeing how much ‘damage’ one pastrami sandwich could do to my mood/body chemistry/sleep habits really sort of shook me up and made me appreciate all the changes I’ve been able to make for myself.
Man, I love New York.
So this evening, I went and took a nice jog/walk over to my local park. I managed to jog the WHOLE way there (super impressive), and I made a lap around, and surprised myself again by deciding to make another lap. I had to only walk that one though, because my core muscles were kicking up a storm and making it hard to breathe.
Ugh, my life. Such in a good place. Years ago I would have never imagined my stringing praises of physical exercise. It’s taken me a while to get where I am and appreciate it now, but it’s been all worth it. When I run, swim, walk, or do yoga, I think, “This isn’t just for me. This is for my kids, my future self, my family, or the person who might one day get my organs when I die.” I don’t just do it for me, I do it in a communal sense. And cause it just damn well feels good by the end of it. Even though the first 5-10 minutes can be fucking wack and I feel miserable. But it picks up after that!

I just finished some nice breakfast. Blueberry pancakes. (if you can’t tell I’ve been craving pancakes lately.)
The recipe is:
1/2 cup uncooked oats
1/2 blueberries
1 tablespoon honey
1 egg
Just blend it together and let it thicken. Sometimes I put it in the fridge overnight and make it in the morning. It is super delicous! I won’t lie though, it isn’t totally a pancake you can say, but made similar. Tastes great though, believe. Expecially if you love blueberries!
As for the workout today, I may just go for a jog. Because today is my off day and after kicking ass all week, I believe bodies deserve rest.
BUT that doesn’t mean I need to sit on my butt all day! After work I am definitely enjoying this beautiful day.

She’s a marathon runner (on and off mostly since she’s in school now) and usually runs San Diego’s Rock n Roll Marathon, but couldn’t this year due to school. And we were saying how we should get my dad to run it next year since he’s lost like 15 pounds now since he stopped drinking. Then I said I would run it, the half marathon at least. And at first I was just kinda joking around and saying it, but now I think I should really stick with this goal. I want to start training and maybe I could actually run/walk the half marathon next year. I’m gonna have to really train though because right now I can only run/walk like half a mile to a mile, and a half marathon is 13.1 miles. But I have until next summer. So I’m going to try my hardest to get there! If any of you are training for races or marathons, tips would be very much appreciated on how to get started training and where I should be running wise at certain points in the year I have to train.
Help?
Today was the first day of my new, and hopefully permanent, lifestyle change. Well, almost. I’ve already been working on eating healthier, but I haven’t been as committed to exercise. So today, I woke up at 7:30 and got my fitness on!
Goal: Healthy, Happy, Beautiful. I want to be in my best physical condition; I want to have a flat sexy tummy before Micah comes home in approx. 3 months.
HEALTH - Tabloid Sores (Nosaj Thing Rmx)
Being on a low-carb diet means that your protein sources have to be as low in carbs as anything else you eat. If you eat meat, for example, you can only eat it breaded and fried if the breading is low-carb. The same goes for meatloaf, which typically has many more carbs than you would suspect. Not all meat is carb-free by itself, either. Read on to learn how to choose the protein sources you need without the carbs you don’t.
-If you eat meat, most cuts of beef, pork, poultry and lamb have less than a carb per serving. How you cook or prepare them can change that, however. Avoid any kind of liver or any internal organs, like chicken giblets. With the exception of ricotta, cottage cheese and Gjetost (or Brunost, as this brown Norwegian cheese is also called), cheese is also a good low-carb source of protein.
-If you eat fish and seafood, fish has no carbs. Seafood can, however. Oysters, mussles, clams and abalone can have the most. Still, the carb content for a modest serving is low. For example, 3 oz. of cooked Pacific oysters has 8.4 carbs.
-If you do not eat meat, fish, or seafood, try seitan. It has the highest amount of protein of the vegetarian meat substitutes. Plus, it is a good source of iron and has little fat and no cholesterol. You can make seitan at home; but you can also buy it at a natural foods store. Use it as you would beef. You can buy a chicken-flavored seitan, as well. Another good source of protein is tofu.
-Drink soy milk for extra protein. Choose one without sweetening so that you can have the benefits of soy protein without unnecessary carbs.
-Don’t forget to eat your vegetables. They have protein, too. Beans and peas have as much protein as the same amount of tofu. Broccoli and asparagus have half as much protein as the same amount of tofu.
While the Congressional Budget Office has said that only 7 percent of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) will have to switch to subsidized-exchange policies in 2014, a McKinsey survey which included more than 1,300 employers found that about 30 percent of employers will definitely or probably stop offering ESI after 2014, when Affordable Care Act will come into effect. The survey also found that at least 30 percent of employers would gain financially if they did not offer ESI benefits, and more than 85 percent of employees would remain at their jobs even if their employer stopped offering ESI, although about 60 percent would expect increased compensation.

I slept in today, which is unusual for me. I feel really good - partially from working out hard yesterday! I’m going to the gym today, but I’m not sure what I should do… any ideas? I already ran some laps today. :)
How’s everyone’s day going so far? What is everyone doing to be fit today?
I’m planning on starting a Progress Blog where I’ll post pictures and some reviews on my work outs and things I eat and some ongoing measurements and whatnot now that I’m almost ready to start my P90X training.
It’s going to be password protected so my“”half-naked”“ self won’t be at too much of a public-display.
[I will also be posting a link in a few minutes to my new fitness blog]
But it is a FITSPO-type blog, so if you’re interested in getting healthy or toned[like I’m gunning for] or just wanna show me some support [which I will GREATLY appreciate] just send me a message in my ask box and I’ll inbox you the password :)
I start p90x as soon as I can get a pair of resistance bands, just so you know. Which could be as soon as this weekend.
Here’s a link to my ask:http://andtheworldwaswell.tumblr.com/ask
and if you know of anyone that is a fitness blog or that likes following fitness blogs let them know about me, or let me know about them.

Gorilla Heart Health Study - Cincinnati Zoo

Tonight
Among wine’s recently discovered benefits are: improved heart health, less plaque accumulation in arteries, better bone health, cataract prevention, decreased risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, possibly cancer prevention and more. The miracle ingredient appears to be resveratrol, a naturally occurring substance found in grape skins, that has antioxidant effects (meaning it wipes out compounds in the body that can damage DNA and lead to disease). However, more isn’t necessarily better. While the American Heart Association recommends up to one glass of wine per day for women and two for men, filling your bubble glass to the brim won’t keep the grim reaper away. Most studies say one 5-ounce serving is sufficient. There’s no clear evidence pointing to one varietal being better than another, so go with red or white — whichever your taste buds prefer.
So since iv’e been back in California my diet has changed greatly from when I was in New York. In New York I was on the poor mans diet i.e. lots of pasta, pb&j’s, and whatever vegetables I could get my hands on plus miles upon miles of walking a day. This lead to me losing about 7 pounds. Since I have been back in California and living at my parents house I am now able to get my hands on whatever food I want which sounds great but also makes it easier to fall of the horse since now I actually have the ability to eat more food…
But being able to notice the weight I have lost has helped keep me on track to my goal of 5 more pounds. I have been incorporating more salads into my meals with plenty of raw chopped vegetables * The less cooked your vegetables the more benefits you get out of them* and drinking more water through out the day which has always been a bad habit of mine. Also, more whole grains which has been pretty easy, cheerios and oatmeal in the mornings.
People always complain about how hard it is to eat healthy now a days but I think its never been easier. It’s really your own choice and no one else’s fault as to what food you put in your mouth. So think about what you are eating, and what benefits it has towards your health. Even though eating fat filled meals with no vegetables in sight hasn’t effected you right now it will always catch up with you in the end.
So eat healthy! I promise not only will it help with weight and overall health it will make you happier in the end.
Sugar: The Bitter Truth
Shifting the balance in the war on cancer:Cancer genomics, the study of the human cancer genome, is, according to the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health, “a search within ‘cancer families’ and patients for the full collection of genes and mutations - both inherited and sporadic - that contribute to the development of a cancer cell and its progression from a localized cancer to one that grows uncontrolled and metastasizes (spreads throughout the body).”
Modeled after the Human Genome Project, the 15-year long process to sequence all 3 billion base pairs in the human genome (a virtual blueprint for a human being) that ended in 2003, the Cancer Genome Atlas is a collective database as scientists and academics attempt to sequence the entire array of genetic mutations that cause every known type of cancer.
According to Eric Lander, one of the principal leaders of the Human Genome Project, the number of cancerous genetic mutations is finite because the number of base pairs in the human genome is finite. “The key is finding the Achilles’ heels for the mutations in these pathways.”
So, I guess I should do an update on my life? Seeing as half the time, this blog consists of gifs, random pictures and constant liveblogging. of course I’ll put it in a cut seeing as, I’m not about to spam people that don’t really care about these little details.
- I just got a part-time job as hostess for macaroni grill at the Orlando International Airport. I’m excited to a certain extent, and at least with this I can start saving for graduate school.
- I’m not doing speech language pathology anymore. I guess, I just don’t like it as much as I thought I did. Instead, I’m going to get a masters in elementary education and then a PH.D in elementary education so that I can teach in a post-secondary/university setting. I love to work with children for sometime in my life, but I’d love to become a college professor in the long run, and so therefore a PH.D is needed!
- Of course, not just needed. It’s wanted.
- Some people in my life may not agree with this choice, but at this point in my life? fuck them, if you aren’t going to die for me, then you sure as hell are not going to live my life.
- I’m still playing nurse for my mom. She’ll probably be in bed and out of work because of her surgery. I don’t mind really, she’s one of the only people who hasn’t taken advantage of me so it’s the least I can do.
- I’m still single as fuck. I’m honestly okay with it, but I get those few moments throughout the day, where I really miss sex. I mean, seriously. It’s literally been almost 2 years. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME. I’m not actively trying to date anyways, so it’s not like it is an accidental dryspell or something. It’s technically on purpose? Just untill I can trust someone to get that close to be again. I’m not the one night stand type.
- I’m still screening my dad’s phone calls.
People came and I taught.
it went pretty well.
I ended up timing it perfectly. AND I did laps afterward. Which was good. I didn’t get to do a lot of laps because I had to go work, but still. I did do some laps.
Um, I will post my aerobics workout sometime. I have to get ready for a practice I am helping at.
Especially from those of you who know more about health foods~ T_T;

Remember, guys, Oh Oh Oh To Tpuch And Feel Virgin Girls’ Vaginas and Hymens!
This is definitely true. I need to eat about 5 times a day, otherwise I’m starving if I only eat 3 meals a day.
So tonight, I fed Phin a bit of peanut butter and he started choking and gasping for air. I broke several laws speeding us down to the local vet while Dom and his amazing person gave phinny CPR. They put him in an oxygen chamber and managed to unblock his airways with some cotton swabs. We’re home now, he’s breathing, and Dom and I are keeping a close eye on him. I’ve also never earned a beer more than I have just now.
Also, and incredible thank you to the people at the Birarcliff Animal Hospital for being the only place in Atlanta open this late, and still helping us during our emergency despite their exotic specialist not being in that day.

So this is the book I have been reading today. It’s called Comfortably Unaware by Dr. Richard A. Oppenlander. What this book is about is about making us aware of how the choices we make concerning what we eat, whether we believe or not, is contributing to the issue of Global Warming. Aside from making us aware on how our eating habits have an affect on global warming it is also giving an insight on a much healthier way of eating that is not only good for us but our environment. I highly recommend this book.

I went with MARY (http://marywanderingagain.tumblr.com/)! and Brooke (http://inksweat.tumblr.com/)
We did lots of abs (I planks! Twice! For a minute each!) a little bit of legs, wall sits (death) and some arms. We also went to a zumba class. Great cardio, but I won’t be going back…. haha.
It was a great first-day-back-to-the-gym-in-forever workout!

Boot Camp Week 4 Day 3
Maybe the publishing world heard us last week when we toldja our girl Jennifer Hudson was having a tough time getting a book deal about her weightloss. Well, things have changed! J-Hud signed a deal to write a book on her dramatic weight loss. The ‘Dreamgirls’ star will be opening up about how her unhealthy eating habits which she says began at an early age. The Weight Watchers spokesperson famously shed 80lbs in less than two years, going from a size 16 to a size 6.
She’ll share her weight issues, and some of her own best tips for losing and maintaining weight loss, fitting in exercise and keeping the pounds off. In the mean time, someone needs to share with her that with the weight shed those breast aren’t the same beast they use to be and she can hide the push bras and stretch marks, right now!

Lunch: baked chicken, salad leaves, chorizo, onion and nandos sauce. Yum, nandos sauce is so good on salad if you like spicy food :)
I’m inclined to disagree with you knowing how to abandon a food, considering meat is different than cheese - meat doesn’t have casein. Casein is the milk protein that you’re addicted to.
We do deal with a lot, as vegans, and I commiserate with what you’re saying about getting shit from friends - I find that people being unsupportive of my diet, even though it’s no concern of theirs and doesn’t hinder their lives in any way, is the only hard part of this lifestyle for me. You know what, though? I don’t have any friends who say it’s stupid, because no ‘friend’ wouldn’t take the time to try and understand a life and moral change like veganism that literally hurts no one. If your ‘friends’ are being called stupid and aren’t willing to support you in something you care about, it’s really high time to get some new friends.
As for keeping up with everything, I’m not sure what to tell you - yes, there’s a lot of ingredient-reading in veganism. Yeah, there’s a lot of explaining. Worse, there’s a lot of substituting, especially when you find out our favorite alcoholic drink or shampoo, etcetera, isn’t vegan. But you do it because living cruelty-free means more to you than convenience and hopefully someday (as it’s been starting for years and years) veganism will be as convenient as an omnivore diet. We already have so many amazing products that make our lives easier (one being Daiya, obviously) and the list goes on from there. This day and age, it’s not hard to be a vegan - it’s just mind over matter.
Vegansoapbox has a list of how to get cheese out of your diet - I’ll throw it in for good measure: http://www.vegansoapbox.com/i-cant-live-without-cheese/
Fitness Fun Fact:
I love double and sometimes quadruple dating. My boyfriend and I have so much fun hanging out and connecting with our friends. This more than likely ends up with us all meeting up to go out to dinner to catch up or heading to the movies together and ordering the popcorn. Last night, we changed that. We met up with my best friend and her fiancée at the park last night! We laced up our shoes and went for a 2 mile jog/run. Afterwards, we raced each other to see who was faster in the park parking lot(of course my boyfriend and I won!). It was a different type of meet up but we all had a blast and the best part: we burned calories and drank water instead of consuming calories with food and alcohol. This is just one of the things that we have done together fitness wise. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend and I are actually in a competition with my best friend and her fiancée! Two weeks ago, we took before pics together. The couple who has made the most improvement at the end of July will receive a prize from the other couple! Cool, huh? It’s funny because the men are so competitive that in return they have been pushing my best friend and I to work that much harder. So fitness fact of the day is, include your friends in your fitness goals. You will have fun and all get healthier at the same time. Now that’s what I call a win win situation!
““The main thing diagnoses are good for is sussing out what your shrink thinks of you — Bipolar Affective Disorder means they like you, Unipolar means you’re boring, Borderline Personality Disorder means they hate you and Schizophrenic means you scare the shit out of them because they can’t keep up with your thinking.””- Blackbridge 1997

Lots of excitement today.ouch, but yay!
So I am working right now, okay maybe not, or maybe I AM!
So I have created a Tumblr for the gym i work at and I think you would love to follow it!
http://humanatease.tumblr.com/
It really is awesome helping to promote a business or even better to promote fitness!
My grammar maybe really lousy today and I am also not sure why that is. All I can say is that i am really excited about strength training lately and it gets worse everyday I work because I may do a couple of pull-ups and get one more every time I try just teasing me to get just one more.
I need to definitely start getting into more advanced routines and move along…..
So what advanced techniques should I do?
Praise the Lord! That’s wonderful news. God is so good and full of mercy. God bless your heart, Lee!

Today there are so many things that are made out of plastic and many things that we eat and drink come in plastic packaging. The increased awareness of the harmful chemicals in plastics is causing concern and it is important to understand which plastics are safe and harmful. So, how do we determine which are the safe plastics and which ones we should try not to use? It is important to understand the types of plastics. All plastics are identified by a code numbered 1 through 7 that is typically located on the bottom of the packaging with the famous recycling triangle around it. The next time you use plastic (or buy canned food for your bomb shelter), pay attention to the following numbers to know what to avoid:
1 Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE) Used to make soft drink, water, sports drink, ketchup, salad dressing bottles, peanut butter, pickle, jelly and jam jars.
BAD: Due to antimony leaching although many sources will say it is ok for one time use.
2 High density polyethylene (HDPE) Milk, water, and juice bottles, yogurt and margarine tubs, cereal box liners, and grocery, trash, and retail bags.
GOOD: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones.
3 Polyvinyl chloride (V or PVC) Most cling-wrapped meats, cheeses, and other foods sold in delicatessens and groceries are wrapped in PVC.
BAD: To soften into its flexible form, manufacturers add “plasticizers” during production. Traces of these chemicals can leach out of PVC when in contact with foods. According to the National Institutes of Health, di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), commonly found in PVC, is a suspected human carcinogen.
4 Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) Some bread and frozen food bags and squeezable bottles.
OK: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones, but not as widely recycled as #1 or #2.
5 Polypropylene (PP) Some ketchup bottles and yogurt and margarine tubs.
OK: Hazardous during production, but not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones. Not as widely recycled as #1 and #2.
6 Polystyrene (PS) Foam insulation and also for hard applications (e.g. cups, some toys)
BAD: Benzene (material used in production) is a known human carcinogen. Butadiene and styrene (the basic building block of the plastic) are suspected carcinogens. Energy intensive and poor recycling.
7 Other (usually polycarbonate) Baby bottles, microwave ovenware, eating utensils, plastic coating for metal cans.
BAD: Made with biphenyl-A, a chemical invented in the 1930s in search for synthetic estrogens. A hormone disruptor. Simulates the action of estrogen when tested in human breast cancer studies. Can leach into food as product ages.
