I’m on a journey to my dream body

some women would kill to have that “Victoria Secret Body”

well that is my goal, and I’m going to use this blog to track my workouts and progress

I’m also going to post inspiration photos (only VS angels)

motivation quotes and workout tips

my goal is not only physical perfection but the understanding

that you can do anything you put your mind to

I believe I can accomplish this and so I will

follow me on my journey xoxo Cyn

I slept in today, which is unusual for me. I feel really good - partially from working out hard yesterday! I’m going to the gym today, but I’m not sure what I should do… any ideas? I already ran some laps today. :)

How’s everyone’s day going so far? What is everyone doing to be fit today?

I’m planning on starting a Progress Blog where I’ll post pictures and some reviews on my work outs and things I eat and some ongoing measurements and whatnot now that I’m almost ready to start my P90X training.

It’s going to be password protected so my“”half-naked”“ self won’t be at too much of a public-display.

[I will also be posting a link in a few minutes to my new fitness blog]

But it is a FITSPO-type blog, so if you’re interested in getting healthy or toned[like I’m gunning for] or just wanna show me some support [which I will GREATLY appreciate] just send me a message in my ask box and I’ll inbox you the password :)

I start p90x as soon as I can get a pair of resistance bands, just so you know. Which could be as soon as this weekend.

Here’s a link to my ask:http://andtheworldwaswell.tumblr.com/ask

and if you know of anyone that is a fitness blog or that likes following fitness blogs let them know about me, or let me know about them.

Thanks you guys, I love you all :)

WHAT’S THE POINT OF DRINKING 8 GLASSES OF WATER?

There are so many health and body blogs on tumblr these days, so I figured I’d make my own!  I have always been thin and skinny.  Being an adult male, this can be difficult sometimes - especially in environments where people show off their bodies, like pools, the beach, and so on.  In middle and high school, I was always the “lanky” kid.  This eventually got me to start working out more.  I slowly gained more muscle and strength, and pretty soon, all my friends were commenting on how I’d gained weight and tone.  After a year or two of that, it eventually fell by the wayside again, and I became too comfortable with myself.  This is me now…

Compared to how I looked about a year ago, I’m just a LITTLE smaller, but I’ve lost a lot of the muscle I had before.  So now it’s time!  I’ve been working out fairly consistently for the past couple weeks, and am now at that point where I feel good about the whole process.  I’m beginning to eat more healthily (I was eating a lot back when I was bigger, so that explains the weight loss) and now I just want to feel great about my body again.  Right now, I’d say I feel bad, but not terrible.  Well, here it goes! I will be posting pictures once a week to see how I’m doing.  Hopefully by the end of summer I can show off!

Control Appetite and Get a Fit Body with Healthy Snack Recipes:

Everybody knows that there are a number of foods that are usually superior eating selections than others. What’s not so simple in the real world is actually putting everything we know about wholesome eating into our life.

In simple terms, it’s hard in order to balance all those munchies with the healthy foods we know we should be consuming. Even if you take time to ingest 3 meals per day, you might still feel hungry at times. OK, what’s the solution?

Healthy Snack Recipes.

Chowing down on healthy food items can easily keep your vitality level high and…

Temperatures have risen all over, I saw on the weather channel this morning. Which means, get...

I think I’ll run while its still cloudy… 3miles today…

GOTTA PUT IN THAT HALF MARATHON TRAINING TIME!!

DETERMINATION FACE!

Let’s see if I can organize my brain enough for this; it’s so hot here today. I’m in the AC, but I was just out and it’s terrible.

Saw the naturopathic doctor. First visit was very good; my mom went with me, because I don’t retain information about what she and my dad have for health issues, much less anyone further back than that. All of my records from the last couple of years did in fact get faxed over, so she’d had that to look at and work from, plus the two things I filled out for her for that day, and the report from the symptom checklist I took to the chiropractor. She sent us away with a promise that she’d have a full plan a week later when I saw her again, as well as supplements at a reduced price for us because we’re poor. That appointment was today, and I went on my own this time.

I’ve got seven pill-form supplements now, which I’ll go into detail about later once I’ve napped and processed this a little. I’ve also got three powder-form supplements to go into a daily smoothie. Total was $135, but that’s for 2-3 months worth of each thing, so it’s a pretty good deal.

She also wants me to go gluten-free.

And she wants me to try and cut some caffeine out, mostly by switching to green tea, and not putting any milk in it (milk neutralizes the beneficial aspect of both black and green tea, which is why Western culture hasn’t seen as much of a benefit from drinking it as Eastern culture does). I’ll still have coffee once in a while, or decaf a lot more often, because I like it.

Gluten-free.

I was perfectly fine while she was talking about it, but now that it’s sinking in I’m actually getting a little upset. This is going to be a huge step to take, and it’s making me as depressed now as it was just from the thought of it back when I was dealing with the gastroenterologist and getting tested for celiac (which I don’t have, but plenty of people are gluten-sensitive without being celiac positive). All those foods that aren’t nearly as good without gluten, all those things I simply won’t be able to have anymore because there’s no gluten-free equivalent. Yes, doing this will probably make me feel loads better, but it’s a lifestyle change, and I’m not sure I’m ready to take it yet. I’ll probably feel better about it tomorrow, but goddamn.

I just started my period like an hour ago, too, and it’s storming, AND it’s horribly hot out, so my body’s not really sure whether crying is in order, or getting mad, or just being terribly bummed. It’s safe to say that I am Not Happy right now, though.

Today’s lesson in health is the reproductive system and sex and pregnancy.

Ewww it’s showing pictures and diagrams of stuff I do not want.

This won’t be a fun lesson.

I won’t be surprised if I fail this lesson’s assessment.

Nasty. Looking at it grosses me out.

8 Delicious Foods To Boost Up Your Energy Levels

Fitness

WHAT’S THE POINT OF DRINKING 8 GLASSES OF WATER?

I have been making numerous improvements to my health in terms of what I consume. A big one has been what I drink and when I drink it.

What I’m talking about is water.

Since around January I have been making a big effort to drink more water and less non-water liquids. I drink much less juices (large amounts of unnatural sugars) and no longer drink sodas (no benefit whatsoever). I have a 27oz canteen water bottle that has become my new sidekick, filling it up about 4-6 times a day (so i drink about 4 liters of water a day). So I’ve felt great because I feel I have detoxed my body from all the bullshit chemical foods I used to eat before.

And then, I hit a wall>Is it too much? Is this water (“purified” with flouride) even good for me?

(you know what’s annoying, the fact that when ‘they’ tell you how many glasses of water to drink, ‘they’ never the size of the glass, or take into consideration the fact that no one has identical bodies therefore have different water requirements …I digress..)

In my research I found a very interesting, very bold (haha i had to do it) claim about drinking water: Drink as little as possible.

Reason being: Our bodies are not designed to drink water.

Humans are not naturally water-drinking creatures, for they have absolutely no equipment for it as have natural water-drinking animals.” The only thing that water is good for is to serve as a “transport medium.”

There are many different types of water, believe it or not.

Mineral water, well water, spring water, tap water, distilled water, water in foods and drink. Many argue that distilled water is the best because it removes toxins such as fluoride and parasites. However, distilled water should only be consumed to temporarily detoxify the body, and not as a substitute for regular filtered water for it becomes acidic (sources for this argument and discussion:

Why I say No to distilled water-

http://chetday.com/saynotodistilled.htm

Early death comes from drinking distilled water-

http://www.mercola.com/article/water/distilled_water.htm

Health affects of distilled water discussion-

http://www.cyber-nook.com/water/distilledwater.htm

And yet, these are not pure sources of water. One of the purest forms of water is found in fruits, which also contain vital minerals for the body. Fruits are able to contain water inside of them with minimal contact to poisonous toxins.

Bottomline:

If your diet is water-sufficient, then there is no need to be drinking a lot of water, unless it’s hot weather or if you exercise regularly. Eat more fruit, particularly right after you wake up. If you munch on eggs, sausage, bacon, and pancakes with juice, you are not doing your body justice. It just woke up, meaning it needs time to “break-the-fast,” thus why it is called “breakfast.” So, help it adjust with some fruit and if needed, water. What I do is drink water first to wake my digestive system up and prepare it for food after.

My mom tells me that it’s better to eat acidic fruit (orange, apples, pineapple) in the morning and sweeter fruit (banana, grapes, melons) later in the day. Do your best to eat each color of fruit every day, for health and spiritual purposes. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as “the best fruit.” We need a balanced, well-rounded diet of minerals and vitamins to keep our bodies well-maintained and healthy.

Also, beware of how much water you use when cooking, because that water counts too, and too much water can absorb the minerals from your food.

AND PLEASE, AVOID BOTTLED WATER AT ALL COSTS! sorry that was a knee-jerker.

Be safe, HTP.

717 calories burned walking 2.05 miles in 40:00 minutes.

Then I did the stationary bike for 10:03 burning 51 calories and ‘going’ 1.79 miles

My net calories are 28? Oh, honey. That’s crazy. I swam like a mad woman for almost 3 hours today, along with going to the gym. I need to do a bit less than I did today.

Apparently, I ate like a mad woman, too.

That’s 15.6 miles for you non-metric folk.

I’ve done 10.7km already and am doing around 8km on Sunday morning so on Wednesday and Thursday all I have to do is run 6.3km total, which is easy considering I can do 5km at a time now.

I’m also looking at doing a 10km fun run in August. That will be amazing!

So I’m back at home. +2lbs but that’s not too bad for a 10 day Vacation I guess.

Back to the grind tomorrow though.

YOU CAN'T GAIN MUSCLE IF YOU DON'T EAT.

I see all these posts from girls who’re starving themselves saying ‘Ohhh I’ll stop exercising I gained so much muscle weight I don’t want to gain weight’.

1. If it would be able to actually gain muscle when you eat only 600 calories a day, What’s the point? Muscle tissue weighs more than fat tissue so you’ll look skinnier, plus muscle tissue burns more calories at rest so if it’d be possible it would only be beneficial

2. It isn’t even possible. Muscle tissue is a lot more complex than fat tissue, and the body needs more calories to maintain muscle tissue than it needs to maintain fat tissue. And think about fat tissue: Do you gain fat when you’re eating less calories than you use? NO. So why would you gain muscle tissue? You can’t build a house without material, right? So you CAN’T build muscle tissue when there’s no material (food). And when you burn 2300 cals a day (which is about what you burn when you just live normal and exercise for half an hour) and only eat 800 calories there’s no way you’ll gain muscle tissue because there’s just no material to build those muscles.
And no, there’s no such thing as turning fat into muscle. Think about it, why would your body turn fat into muscle when you’re eating less calories than you use? Making muscle is a difficult process for the body which takes a lot of energy. And maintaining those muscles takes more energy than maintaining fat. So why would your body use so much energy to make muscle tissue when there’s no energy in your body since you’re in ‘starvation mode’?

You won’t gain muscle weight from exercising when you’re eating less than you burn. That’s a fact. Stop saying stupid things that make no sense because it’s pissing me off.

Spartans are 'fing CRAZY.

I did the Spartan Race today.  This one was their “lightest.”  It’s Called the spartan sprint.  Its 3 miles of rock climbing, wall scaling, mud crawling, fire hopping insanity.  Being that I havent even been to flywheel in a while, and I am not in the best of shape, this was an ambitious move for me.

My wife wanted to go, and we were meeting up with some friends.  I sort of assumed that at any point, I could just throw up my hands and call it quits.  Which turned out to not really be the case.  When you are 1000 feet in on a 2000 foot rock scramble, quitting doesn’t really mean anything.

So, How did I get through it?  I took a few small shortcuts.  I did everything that I physically could, and I paced myself.  Im scared to see what my actual numbers are.  But they don’t really matter.

What I “cheated” on:

  1. Running.  Running up the initial hill.  I realized that I shouldn’t have even tried to do that as a run about 50% in.  So, after I cornered off to the side and wheezed for a few minutes, I cut over to the other portion of this obstacle, omitting roughly 50% of it.
  2. Wall Climbing.  I made it over one, under a few.  Most of the walls tho turned out to be too much for me.
  3. Horizontal Wall Climb.  I dont actually believe that this is humanly possible.
  4. Rock bucket.   This one kicked my ass.  I only got 35% done with this.  I filled my bucket to 75% as per instruction.

What I did:

  1. Rock “Scrambles”.  Going up an IMMENSLEY steep hill, via nothing but rocks.  Rocks and trees.  This wasnt hiking.  This was borderline rock climbing.  There were 3 of these, the last being the most grueling (probably about 3/4 of a mile, very steep)
  2. Rock Pull (just pulling rocks with a rope.  not sure why)
  3. Barbwire Crawl.  Going through this tiny little hole into a tiny little barbed structure, and then crawling my arse through the entire thing.
  4. Javelin Toss
  5. Balancing Beam.
  6. Fire Jump 1
  7. Mud Slide.  Essentially going down a long ski slope that has water running through it.  Much harder than it sounds.
  8. Yoke.  I had to tow some crate full of stuff over a trail and then hot coals.  JIKES!
  9. Mud Barbwire Crawl
  10. Wall of ropey thingy.  Some 40 foot tall structure where you climb ropes up, climb em down.
  11. Soapy Rope Clime.  I MAINTAIN that I met this challenge.. Even tho I fell off 4 times and MIGHT have cracked a rib.  I tool a slick two rope approach.
  12. Mud, Ice and Barbwire crawl.  Yeah, cause, ice made it so much better.
  13. Fire Jump 2.  At this point, I didn’t give a %$#@.  I just walked through.  it was a much bigger fire.  It was hot.  I didn’t care.
  14. Gladiators.  I walked right through them.  I think they pitied me.  or were scared off.  Im going to go with scared off.

What I got:

  1. a shiny, fairly heavy medal that shows I completed the race
  2. a twisted ankle (nothing serious)
  3. 16 tiny little cuts.   Mostly from barbed wire
  4. soreness, everywhere.
  5. A feeling of bad-assery.

Overall, a great time.  Also allot of pain.

My group hung back long enough for me to catch up, on numerous accounts.  Probably for much more than they would have liked.

Quitting takes more work than continuing, in allot of cases.

So far

today’s workout:

I did about an hour of weight training/ abs combined.  Got on an elliptical for 30 minutes and ran for 30 minutes.

I plan to have the pull up bar installed this evening and can’t wait to try it out.
