Cloud Atlas to be filmed in Berlin as city eyes starring role in movies

Despite critical plaudits, German productions have rarely managed to infiltrate commercial multiplexes outside their own borders. That might just change with the announcement of what is being heralded in the German media as “the first attempt at a German blockbuster” and “the most expensive German film of all time” – a $100m (£62m) adaptation of David Mitchell’s labyrinthine novel Cloud Atlas, which will be filmed on location in Berlin this autumn. I want to go back to Germany. Right this minute. I mean, up to this point I’ve missed the people more. And I’ve missed Europe, but right now its almost overwhelming. I want to be in Herrnhut, where it’s beautiful and you have to walk everywhere and wandering always produces some sort of adventure.

Probably Germany, we MUST win.

I love uniforms, they’re so great. I would try all of them, but I think the two anglophones and german ones are specially cool… and Russia’s one!

Mmmm… Germany I guess…

Switzerland also, he treats really lovingly Liechtenstein. And America, so funny - you support me and… I’M THE HERO!

This scares me. Why isn’t this statistic talked about...

This scares me. Why isn’t this statistic talked about more?

It’s almost as screwed up as the percentage of catholic people representing us in government. common sense along with almost every branch of modern science tells us we should put these people (who really believe the bible is true) in the looney bin, Yet they continue to hold significant power in the most powerful nation humans has ever seen. Something tells me that’s a red flag when it comes to which direction we want to evolve as a species.

Android market share in America

ComScore research institution has just announced their latest survey. As a result, it was revealed that the Android-based phone continues to capture mobile market share to competitors. Now, in the United States, the smartphone with Android-based operating system reaches 33 percent.

Research In Motion is a producer who most feel the impact of the surge of interest in Android. Its market share fell 4.1 percent in the period November 2010 to February 2011. However, the company still control 28.9 percent share of U.S. smartphone market.

Another operating system market share decline is Microsoft and Palm. Microsoft has decreased 1.3 percent to 7.7 percent of total market while Palm fell 1.1 percent to 2.8 percent of total market in February 2011.

Although 1 in 3 smartphone sold in the U.S. is Android smartphone, but thanks to iPhone 4, Apple managed to survive. Its market share actually rose 0.2 percent in that period of time.

However, recent findings comScore is not describing the overall market. "In the U.S., Android pretty awesome, rose 7 percent between November 2011 and February 2011. However, the operating system market is actually stronger in developing countries," said Fred Wilson, an analyst from Union Square Ventures, as quoted by PC Magazine, April 3, 2011.

In addition, Wilson said, most of the growth of smartphones in 5 to 10 years will come from developing countries.

Still, according to Henry Blodget, an analyst with Business Insider, an increase in the Android market is still going to endanger the position of Apple in the future. "The growth of Android is the result of standardization in the market of a system. Just like Microsoft in the desktop PC segment, or up in the world of social networking," he said.

Blodget said, if Google successfully provides the de facto operating system for a significant number of users, the developer will focus on the making of an application for Android first before making applications for other operating systems.

"Google's strategy with Android in the smartphone operating systems such as shotgun," said Blodget. "Unlike Apple who prefer strategies such as laser weapons," he said.

Break for Levi’s brand – a ‘New Stories of America’

Break Media launches the first of a series of Levi’s branded
‘mockumentaries’ that adopt elements of documentary style filmmaking to chronicle stories about offbeat, entertaining events with a growing underground following around the country.

The first of four mockumentaries will premiere today on a branded channel created at Break.com for the Levi’s brand that will be titled, “New Stories of America.” The channel can be found at http://www.break.com/levis.

Developed by Creative Lab, the creative content shop within Break Media, the mockumentaries are designed to tell stories in a way that will engage Break’s much sought after young male audience. The short videos are the latest digital component of the Levi’s brand’s “Go Forth” marketing campaign which launched in July 2009 and is targeted at the young male demographic.

“Creating content that really engages the young male audience online is the challenge we confront every day on our team,” said Jonathan Small, VP of Creative Lab and Editorial at Break Media. “We thought these mockumentaries and their humorous take on quirky, fun, offbeat events would offer an opportunity for Levi’s to promote their brand through content that guys would really respond to.”

“This branded mockumentary concept developed by Break’s Creative Lab captured our attention because it injects humor and fun to our 'Go Forth' campaign message that we’re confident will resonate with the young male demographic we’re trying to reach,” said Megan O’Connor, Director of Levi’s Digital Marketing.
