Day 8- A magical place outdoors [44 Days of Witchery]

The Black Forest. Maybe it’s not a “legitimately” magical place but it is beyond beautiful. I was lucky enough to see some of it a few years ago while visiting family and it was amazing. A lot of fairy tales are said to be based in the Black Forest and you can actually find castles and the like here as well!

Two days ago a bunch of us decided to travel to a nearby lake, Lake Amersee. It was about an hour on the train, but IT WAS FREE. Its crazy how we can ride public transit to a place that would top any travel destination back in Ohio. We will definitely be going back… a Hofbräu Weißbier with this view… it’s a no-brainer.

From Kצln we drove down through Koblenz, but unfortunately there was a massive gardening festival on and there was no where to park so we couldn’t stop. We drove down through the Moselle Valley and stopped in Cochem for the night. Here, we wandered amongst the cobblestone streets and over the old city wall before heading up to the Pinnerkreuz which provides an incredible view over Cochem and much of the valley. The following day we headed up to the Reichsburg - an old castle that was built in 1100.

It feels a bit strange to look at all the things we did just so recently and how distant it feels.

Between around 1963 to late 1970, all the Nikon products sold in Germany were under the brand name “Nikkor”. It was believed that the name “Nikon” could lead to confusion with another German camera manfacturer “Zeiss Ikon”. After a temporary injunction had been ordered by court, Nikon changed to the word “Nikkor” on all its products sold in Germany to avoid further legal battle.
