Circuit Round-Up, 06/05

* Last week, Joey Magidson published his long-awaited (and very conflicted) thoughts on The Tree of Life, while Mike Ward mostly dismissed The Hangover: Part II.

* Joey also recommended something dumb but fun for his DVD Picks of the Week.

* The awards season has barely started and John H. Foote already felt comfortable betting the house on Steven Spielberg’s War Horse.

* I gave a controversial warning in response to the rapturously-received trailer for David Fincher’s upcoming remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

* Anna Belickis concluded her long-running series on “Dancing with the Stars,” with her predicted winner Hines Ward taking the Mirrorball.

* Anna also paid tribute to Dakota Fanning for Women in Cinema, almost a full decade after her first major film role in I Am Sam.

* Speaking of tributes, I celebrated the recent success and acclaim of actor Michael Fassbender.

* Finally, the weekend openings were previewed. As always, we love to hear what you saw and what you thought of it.

Circuit Round-Up, 05/30

* Good morning, readers. As a reminder of last week’s events, I give my thoughts on the Oscar potential of the major Cannes Film Festival award winners.

* Joey Magidson chooses the lesser of two evils (actually more like mediocrities) for his DVD Picks of the Week.

* Anna Belickis was nonplussed by both Jumping the Broom and Madea’s Big Happy Family, Mike Ward confirmed our suspicions about Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Joey recommended Daydream Nation and raved about Midnight in Paris.

* Speaking of which, I commemorate the release of Woody Allen’s latest film with a Historical Circuit retrospective on one of my favorite works from him.

* Anna also recaps the penultimate episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” Stay tuned for her thoughts on the finale.

* Oscar Tracker gets launched, with The Tree of Life and We Need to Talk About Kevin being the major additions.

* Remember also that today is Memorial Day. The Awards Circuit extends our gratitude to the brave members of America's armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Circuit Round-Up, 05/01

* Last week, Joey Magidson reviewed The High Cost of Living, Arthur, and Jane Eyre, while Michael Ward lent his thoughts to the animated hit Rio.

* Joey had a barren slate to work with for his DVD Picks of the Week.

* Luckily, Joey was very enthusiastic about the screenplay for Jodie Foster’s upcoming film The Beaver.

* Anna Belickis paid tribute to recent Oscar winner Natalie Portman for Women in Cinema.

* Sadly, she also had to bid farewell to the likable Chris Jericho in her "Dancing with the Stars" recap.

* Guy Pearce got the Under the Circuit treatment from yours truly.

* I also looked into my (snarky) crystal ball for possible heavy hitters of the summer.

* Finally, the staff gave their long-anticipated early predictions for the next Academy Awards. Whose will be the most accurate? Guess we’ll all find out on Tuesday, January 24th!
