In September, 2003, Busan Korea was hit with a massive typhoon. For most of the people living on the coast, we were unprepared. I took this photo a few days after the storm. This ship was used as a floating hotel (“The Flotel”); equipped with kareoke rooms, a patio bar and hotel rooms. Fortunately the night of the typhoon, it was evacuated. Today, it still sits eerily in the same position, I guess a reminder to us all that sometimes mother nature can be a real bitch.
Here is a picture of a manican with a carrot and bunny ears. The business men in the background made this unusual site seem not so unusual.
Oh my goodness look at them go.. I like this practice video better than their actual performance on stage :/ I still love them and all their foreign-ness. Big bang. G-dragon looks so un-amused in all his dancing (the blond one with the purple scarf)

digital literature piece by Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries
a gruesome piece detailing an imagined, yet highly plausible preemptive strike by North Korea upon South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. (discretion is advised)

The Cork accent tends to have a faster pace than any other Irish accent, often making it the most difficult to understand.
What’s the craic, boy? Oh my god! Will ye stop messing, like?! What’s up? Oh my god, will you stop that behaviour?

I got up super early today - 7:15 when my earliest alarm was set for 9. I worked on packing the suitcase I took to Orophin’s house tonight and then worked out my credit card. After all of this hassle of not being able to get it to me and not having money I am no longer left no my own destruction!
I met up with Kiki in JhongLi around 11, I have missed that city so much and I can still remember my complete way around it. From just wandering around with her today the biggest change I can find is that the arcade that used to be next to the train station has been changed into a restaurant. We bought Coffin Bread, which I had seen but never actually eaten before, then waited for her parents to come get us.
We all went to Shimen Shan, a mountain which on the weekends becomes surrounded and the paths fill with different stands selling everything (clothes, fresh vegetables, every street food you could really want on a mountain, and of course a chance to sing a song at Karaoke 10 kuai/song). Her parents were worried that I hadn’t sufficiently tried enough things the times I had gone there before so I was treated to ?? (hard to describe, but it has different types of beans, tapioca, a pudding thing which I believe is made from tofu, and some sort of ice-y soup)???? (sweet potato boiled [I think] in sugar or possibly honey), another type of sweet potato food (fried and then you can pick what flavor to go on it, ours were seaweed) then given a black tea and 2 mangos to take home with me later.
I had a good time seeing her again and her parents invited me to come back anytime I could. I hope I can see her when I go to Taichung to see Peter, Kiki is one of my favorite former classmates.
On the train on the way back to Taipei I had today’s “Conversation with a Stranger.” Talked to a lady for maybe 15-20 minutes just about the usual, where I’ve studied in Taiwan, which city is my favorite, etc. A very soft-spoken woman, she seemed a bit sad to have to leave when her stop came.
When I got back to Taipei I finished packing my large suitcase and took it and a smaller bag to Orophin’s house. If I had gotten back earlier I probably would have taken a taxi from the Taoyuan train station but it was too late for me to feel safe enough. I have now taken my largest suitcase on a public bus in Taiwan, oh happy day.
Now I just have to finish packing everything up around here so I can take it and drop it off in a locker at the train station tomorrow and not have to hike around everything all day long. I somehow managed once again to completely forget about my pillow and blanket so I will not only have to put my remaining clothes and books in my small suitcase but also a pillow and blanket. Wish me luck!

I wish I can get here someday. ;)
Normal night at the park with some friends. Cops were called, we left before they arrived. Normal.
