I’m making my own meals now! I never cooked before this…Wicked rad! I’m making stir fry with a bunch of veggies and chicken. Yum!

CAN YOU SAY BOOKED!?

That’s my schedule filled with running club, dragon boat racing club, work, etc…

And I didn’t even factor in my 1/2 marathon training sched!

AWESOME!!!

“As I see it, every day you do one of two things: build health or produce disease in yourself.”

- Adelle Davis

I just finished some nice breakfast. Blueberry pancakes. (if you can’t tell I’ve been craving pancakes lately.)

The recipe is:

1/2 cup uncooked oats

1/2 blueberries

1 tablespoon honey

1 egg

Just blend it together and let it thicken. Sometimes I put it in the fridge overnight and make it in the morning. It is super delicous! I won’t lie though, it isn’t totally a pancake you can say, but made similar. Tastes great though, believe. Expecially if you love blueberries!

As for the workout today, I may just go for a jog. Because today is my off day and after kicking ass all week, I believe bodies deserve rest.

BUT that doesn’t mean I need to sit on my butt all day! After work I am definitely enjoying this beautiful day.

Vicky surprised me this morning by making a fried breakfast, complete with HUGE Yorkie Pudds!

I found this inspirational list on MamaVision’s blog
Found this list on Facebook written by Sarah and wanted to share. This just struck me as a really cool idea…add thoughts as they come about and read through them to reinforce positive reality. See list in process here

-Move forward eagerly, while embracing the now.

-I am free to choose to live as I wish and to give priority to my desires.

-Remember that your body only is not you. The sum of who you are is more important than your body.

-I’ll definitely remember who Stephen Hawking is – but not who won Miss Universe’s last contest.

-I am thankful for all the parts of my body that function correctly

-I appreciate all the movements that my body let me perform

-I am thankful for being able to touch, see, smell, hear and taste

-“I don’t ask for more: the sky above me and the path under my feet.”Robert Louis Stevenson

-Our physical body is a key part of our existence.

-I listen to my intuition.

She’s a marathon runner (on and off mostly since she’s in school now) and usually runs San Diego’s Rock n Roll Marathon, but couldn’t this year due to school. And we were saying how we should get my dad to run it next year since he’s lost like 15 pounds now since he stopped drinking. Then I said I would run it, the half marathon at least. And at first I was just kinda joking around and saying it, but now I think I should really stick with this goal. I want to start training and maybe I could actually run/walk the half marathon next year. I’m gonna have to really train though because right now I can only run/walk like half a mile to a mile, and a half marathon is 13.1 miles. But I have until next summer. So I’m going to try my hardest to get there! If any of you are training for races or marathons, tips would be very much appreciated on how to get started training and where I should be running wise at certain points in the year I have to train.

Help?

Today was the first day of my new, and hopefully permanent, lifestyle change. Well, almost. I’ve already been working on eating healthier, but I haven’t been as committed to exercise. So today, I woke up at 7:30 and got my fitness on!

Goal: Healthy, Happy, Beautiful. I want to be in my best physical condition; I want to have a flat sexy tummy before Micah comes home in approx. 3 months.

HEALTH - Tabloid Sores (Nosaj Thing Rmx)

Being on a low-carb diet means that your protein sources have to be as low in carbs as anything else you eat. If you eat meat, for example, you can only eat it breaded and fried if the breading is low-carb. The same goes for meatloaf, which typically has many more carbs than you would suspect. Not all meat is carb-free by itself, either. Read on to learn how to choose the protein sources you need without the carbs you don’t.

-If you eat meat, most cuts of beef, pork, poultry and lamb have less than a carb per serving. How you cook or prepare them can change that, however. Avoid any kind of liver or any internal organs, like chicken giblets. With the exception of ricotta, cottage cheese and Gjetost (or Brunost, as this brown Norwegian cheese is also called), cheese is also a good low-carb source of protein.

-If you eat fish and seafood, fish has no carbs. Seafood can, however. Oysters, mussles, clams and abalone can have the most. Still, the carb content for a modest serving is low. For example, 3 oz. of cooked Pacific oysters has 8.4 carbs.

-If you do not eat meat, fish, or seafood, try seitan. It has the highest amount of protein of the vegetarian meat substitutes. Plus, it is a good source of iron and has little fat and no cholesterol. You can make seitan at home; but you can also buy it at a natural foods store. Use it as you would beef. You can buy a chicken-flavored seitan, as well. Another good source of protein is tofu.

-Drink soy milk for extra protein. Choose one without sweetening so that you can have the benefits of soy protein without unnecessary carbs.

-Don’t forget to eat your vegetables. They have protein, too. Beans and peas have as much protein as the same amount of tofu. Broccoli and asparagus have half as much protein as the same amount of tofu.

While the Congressional Budget Office has said that only 7 percent of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) will have to switch to subsidized-exchange policies in 2014, a McKinsey survey which included more than 1,300 employers found that about 30 percent of employers will definitely or probably stop offering ESI after 2014, when Affordable Care Act will come into effect. The survey also found that at least 30 percent of employers would gain financially if they did not offer ESI benefits, and more than 85 percent of employees would remain at their jobs even if their employer stopped offering ESI, although about 60 percent would expect increased compensation.

I slept in today, which is unusual for me. I feel really good - partially from working out hard yesterday! I’m going to the gym today, but I’m not sure what I should do… any ideas? I already ran some laps today. :)

How’s everyone’s day going so far? What is everyone doing to be fit today?

I’m planning on starting a Progress Blog where I’ll post pictures and some reviews on my work outs and things I eat and some ongoing measurements and whatnot now that I’m almost ready to start my P90X training.

It’s going to be password protected so my“”half-naked”“ self won’t be at too much of a public-display.

[I will also be posting a link in a few minutes to my new fitness blog]

But it is a FITSPO-type blog, so if you’re interested in getting healthy or toned[like I’m gunning for] or just wanna show me some support [which I will GREATLY appreciate] just send me a message in my ask box and I’ll inbox you the password :)

I start p90x as soon as I can get a pair of resistance bands, just so you know. Which could be as soon as this weekend.

Here’s a link to my ask:http://andtheworldwaswell.tumblr.com/ask

and if you know of anyone that is a fitness blog or that likes following fitness blogs let them know about me, or let me know about them.

Thanks you guys, I love you all :)

I’m inclined to disagree with you knowing how to abandon a food, considering meat is different than cheese - meat doesn’t have casein. Casein is the milk protein that you’re addicted to.

We do deal with a lot, as vegans, and I commiserate with what you’re saying about getting shit from friends - I find that people being unsupportive of my diet, even though it’s no concern of theirs and doesn’t hinder their lives in any way, is the only hard part of this lifestyle for me. You know what, though? I don’t have any friends who say it’s stupid, because no ‘friend’ wouldn’t take the time to try and understand a life and moral change like veganism that literally hurts no one. If your ‘friends’ are being called stupid and aren’t willing to support you in something you care about, it’s really high time to get some new friends.

As for keeping up with everything, I’m not sure what to tell you - yes, there’s a lot of ingredient-reading in veganism. Yeah, there’s a lot of explaining. Worse, there’s a lot of substituting, especially when you find out our favorite alcoholic drink or shampoo, etcetera, isn’t vegan. But you do it because living cruelty-free means more to you than convenience and hopefully someday (as it’s been starting for years and years) veganism will be as convenient as an omnivore diet. We already have so many amazing products that make our lives easier (one being Daiya, obviously) and the list goes on from there. This day and age, it’s not hard to be a vegan - it’s just mind over matter.

Vegansoapbox has a list of how to get cheese out of your diet - I’ll throw it in for good measure: http://www.vegansoapbox.com/i-cant-live-without-cheese/

Fitness Fun Fact:

I love double and sometimes quadruple dating. My boyfriend and I have so much fun hanging out and connecting with our friends. This more than likely ends up with us all meeting up to go out to dinner to catch up or heading to the movies together and ordering the popcorn. Last night, we changed that. We met up with my best friend and her fiancée at the park last night! We laced up our shoes and went for a 2 mile jog/run. Afterwards, we raced each other to see who was faster in the park parking lot(of course my boyfriend and I won!). It was a different type of meet up but we all had a blast and the best part: we burned calories and drank water instead of consuming calories with food and alcohol. This is just one of the things that we have done together fitness wise. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend and I are actually in a competition with my best friend and her fiancée!  Two weeks ago, we took before pics together. The couple who has made the most improvement at the end of July will receive a prize from the other couple! Cool, huh? It’s funny because the men are so competitive that in return they have been pushing my best friend and I to work that much harder. So fitness fact of the day is, include your friends in your fitness goals. You will have fun and all get healthier at the same time. Now that’s what I call a win win situation!

I just love a good BEFORE vs. AFTER!

I’ve had a draft of this post sitting here for a few days. I wanted to talk about weighing myself daily and how short-term plateaus need to kept in perspective. I wanted to talk about how my body seems to go through a cycle of holding onto fat for a few days, then burning it for a few days.

I originally started this post on Monday, when I was disappointed that all of my hard work over the weekend hadn’t translated onto the scales. I weighed in around 102kg on Saturday morning (an excellent result at the time), but was 103kg on Sunday night after a weekend of running, cycling, and a visit to the gym.

I was mindful of how my body seems to go through cycles: it holds onto weight for a few days, then burns fat for a couple of days. I figured it would be a good time to explain what I thought was happening and cite the weekend as the perfect example of this. I was convinced the day I dropped a kilo was just around the corner.

On Tuesday I put on 100 grams. No big deal, but still frustrating. It was four days since I’d lost any weight, but the big drop was just around the corner.

On Wednesday I was still 103.1kg and was starting to make deals with myself: “Keep up the exercise and diet, and if you haven’t dropped any weight by Friday morning we’re going to have a binge day.” After my second run of Couch to 5km week seven, I weighed myself and felt like throwing the scales through the window when I hadn’t lost any weight.

On Thursday I finally dropped some weight, but it was only 400 grams. Normally I’d be pretty happy with that, but I was still heavier than I was in the morning six days previous. Given that my goal is to lose around one kilogram every five days, that wasn’t good enough.

Then I weighed myself today — 101.5kg. Finally I’d broken through, just in time to save myself from a binge day which would put me even further off track. Now I’m back to being ahead of my goals and am re-enthused.

So, as I said, short-term plateaus need to be kept in perspective. They don’t necessarily feel short-term at the time, but as long as you keep the exercise and dieting up, you’ll get there.

I have unintentionally made today a fruit day. I love fruit. I have to go to the store at my lunch hour and pick up a couple of fruit smoothies and protein drinks.

The Simpsons on Your Conscience

On 11/6/11..my maid fell from steelless stain strais.Just in my head i know i’ll be the one who in charge to cook,to clean everything at the kitchen. But i like doing this work. Dishes, cook, clean all the table and everything as people know.To me it’s also an exercise, since i’m a diabetic.I prefer doing things like this than jogging.

The reason why is cause i feel tired fast than normal people does..so it’s no problem to me to do something healthy for myself,by doing this work. Moreover i faced a serious problem with myself..like eating disorder, bulimia and pre-anorexia (i call this cause ever face it nearly a month!).My body just like a stick..from my friends and family viewed. But i never think like that.

So..i don’t mind what work that involve sweating,i’ll be doing it with happy feeling, work hard feeling..haha.And it’s also for myself,my diabetes.Well, replacing my maid position is not bad at all,right..? I love it ;)

Stop in here for while..healthy thing..my sleeping time still worst!

Practicing forearm stands in my hallway before I go to the gym.

I know I don’t look like some of the pictures I post, but I’m a work in progress, and I’m pretty happy with how things are going!

last night i ran 3 miles and walked 1 mile.  it felt good! my local trail kinda sucks because it’s so hilly.  but i guess it’ll only help me for xc!

i’m putting an honest effort into trying to eat healthier.  i’ve been trying to add whole grains and fruits and veggies where i can and avoiding processed foods and sodas.  plus eating in moderation; i tend to over eat…

i have the thinnest arms, so i really want to work on upper-body strength.  i’ll do that along with some more plyo.

  • 15 push-ups
  • 2 x 25 sit-ups
  • 3 x my plyo routine
  • weights… (i need to get some heavier ones!)

I’ve always been the chubby kid.

Growing up I had to get clothes in the “husky” section.

I never liked sports or sweating for that matter.

Although I’m heavy, I really don’t eat terribly… I tend to eat very healthy, I don’t binge or over-indulge. I hate chocolate and don’t have sweets or junk food in my house.

I think most of my weight issues stem from the fact that I live a very sedentary life. I work in front of a computer 8-10 hours per day. Even though I don’t own a car most of my life revolves around a small 4-5 mile radius of downtown Chicago that I usually bus, train, or taxi around. I’ll walk if it’s not too far.

I’ve had gym memberships. My first was when I was 22 or 23. It took me about a year to work up the courage to go and join but I finally did it. I went in, took the tour, signed the contract, and got my membership card. A year later I had spent about $700 for a membership I never used once.

Every once in awhile I dieted. I did South Beach for awhile. Then there was the time I only ate chicken and potatoes. Thankfully, the idea of Jenny Craig or Nutri-System never seemed to pique my interest.

I moved to Chicago in 2007 and decided it was time to get serious. So, I joined another gym. This membership did get some moderate use. I signed up for some personal training sessions and met a great trainer. I saw some results but quickly the cost of keeping a trainer [and motivation] fizzled.

A year later, I decided to get serious… again. This time, I joined a gym that was less than a block from where I worked and I again hired a trainer. Over the course of a few months I lost about 30 pounds, went down 2 pant sizes, 1 shirt size and began to really feel good about myself and the routine I got myself into. However, some life circumstances cast a shadow over the progress and a few months later I was gaining the weight back.

The following year I did manage to get ANOTHER gym membership. This gym was embarrassingly close to my house, like less than 500 feet. However, my low sense of self-esteem and lack of courage and determination only got me to that gym twice. Again, another year’s gym membership down the drain.

Then, in the past year, I’ve made some dramatic changes in my life. I’ve changed jobs, moved to a different neighborhood, having a much better living situation, and personally I’ve made some choices and decisions that have helped me become a healthier person, emotionally and spiritually.

I knew the only thing missing at this point was my physical health.

Last October I got sick with mono, but it wasn’t just one of those cases that lasts a few weeks and is gone — this one stuck with me. I lost energy, was fatigued, and with the grey and dark winter days grew depressed.

My eating habits started to go downhill… living in the middle of a neighborhood filled with restaurants with fast and convenient delivery, I soon rarely left the house for anything.

Then, in May of this year, I got very sick. I was having persistent fevers and night sweats along with chills. Repeated visits to the doctor and countless tests yielded no results and after a couple of weeks I was admitted to the hospital. I’ve never been so scared in my life. Words like “cancer” and other serious illnesses were being discussed as possible culprits. Thankfully, it was nothing serious… just a bad combo of a viral infection and mono. Other than that, I was given a clean bill of health. My heart, blood pressure, and other vital signs were all normal.

Those few days and that entire experience really got me thinking about my life and my health.

For the greater part of my life I’ve been overweight and unhappy with myself. I’ve lacked the confidence and will-power to do something to change it. I’ve had moments where there’s been a spark of motivation but it’s quickly faded. I’ve taken some steps to better myself but they’ve not led anywhere.

And here I sit, 28 years old and nearing my last year of my 20s. I’ve had an experience that almost made me think my life was over… [I literally wrote an “if anything happens to me…” email] and now I know it’s not. I’ve been given another chance and an opportunity to do something.

So I’m going to.

My goal is to spend these last days of 28 preparing to live the last year of my 20s in good health, in good shape, and to be a healthier, happy person. I want to lose weight but more than that, gain confidence and the willpower to be active and be healthy.

Being raised in a Christian home I know that our bodies are a gift and a dwelling place of God’s Spirit. I want to take care of mine and be the best I can be, stewarding the gift God has given me of good health.

So, the day after being discharged from the hospital I knew I needed to make some changes and thus, this journey began.

After being discharged from the hospital, I knew I needed to make some dramatic changes in my life for the betterment of myself and my health. I knew a diet wouldn’t work. This needed to be a lifestyle change.

I spent most of my first day home reading articles online about weight loss, getting fit, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I decided I needed to make commitments to myself and so I wrote up my health commitments. I posted a copy of these on my refrigerator and keep a copy in my wallet. I read and review them nearly every day as a reminder to myself of the changes I’m committing to embrace.

Here they are…

1 - Eat 3 healthy meals per day no later than 7:30 PM.

  • I never eat breakfast, which I know is terrible. So this commitment was huge to get me in the habit of eating 3 meals per day.
  • Living a chaotic life in the city, my dinnertime hours can range anywhere from 7-9:30 PM. That has to change. I need not eat big meals so late and so close to bedtime. This one will be hard but necessary.

2 - Eat healthy foods and maintain and online food journal.

  • I’ve made a commitment to not eat any processed foods or foods with white flour, sugar, or any starches.
  • I want to mainly eat fresh [and if available, organic] fruits, vegetables, and lean meats.
  • Keeping an online journal, for me, has been very helpful. I love MyFoodDiary.com.

3 - Drink at least 64 oz of water per day.

  • Most days I would drink very little water. I’d start the day with Starbucks, have a diet Coke at lunch, and maybe have water before dinner while waiting for a diet Coke or cocktail to arrive.
  • Now, I’m committing to becoming a water-drinking fool. No sports drinks, very little coffee, and if I need a boost drinking green tea.
  • I got a Camelback water bottle and LOVE it.

4 - Limit going out to eat and alcohol consumption.

  • This is huge for me. Most of my meals up to this point have been from eating out. Chiptole [which isn’t awful for you if you make the right decisions], Chinese take-out, you name it. I never cooked at home. That has to chane.
  • If I go out, I will commit to trying to keeping that for the weekends only and will commit to making the healthiest decisions possible.
  • Alcohol-wise, I want to avoid it altogether for the first 90 days of this process. After that [or if I break down between now and then], I only want to drink on weekends and keep it to lite beers and cocktails like vodka sodas. No dark beers or sugary cocktails.

5 - Exercise at least 1 hour per day, 6 times per week.

  • Again, a big commitment.
  • I do have a gym membership now but without a trainer I only feel equipped enough to do cardio. But, I know if I want to lose weight I need to build muscle. Muscle burns fat.
  • After seeing the informercials and seeing some of my friends’ crazy results, I’ve purchased the Power90 in-home training program. It’s the step below P90X for beginners. I’m committing to doing the program for the next 90 days.
  • In addition to focused exercise, since it’s summer, I will commit to walking as much as possible to the various destinations that are a part of my weekly routine, trying to limit the amount of public transportation and taxis I take.

6 - Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night.

  • Admittedly, I’m a night owl and with distractions like technology and Netflix, I’m often prone to having a very late bedtime. That has to change. I know that in order to lose weight you need to get adequate amounts of sleep.
  • So, my goal is to be in bed by 10:30 PM on weekdays and 12 AM on weekends, giving myself at least 8 hours of sleep per night.

7 - Give myself one “free day” per week.

  • With all of these dramatic changes, I know I’ll need a break.
  • I’m going to commit to having one free day per week where I cut loose and don’t freak out over what food I eat.
  • I won’t go buck wild but I will treat myself appropriately trying to make healthy choice and decisions.

I’m choosing to make these commitments to myself so I can reach my goal weight by my 29th birthday, November 25, and live the last year of my 20s as the healthiest year of my life so far.

Month 2, Day 1

trying to get out of the 260’s has been the hardest part of this journey so far.  I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong.  maybe i’m not paying attention to my meals as much, or maybe my exercise routine is becoming stale and my body is getting bored, or even i’ve just been doing to many toning things, cause i feel like i lost more weight but there is a good chance it could all be muscle building.  I can’t wait for my birthday when i FINALLY get Zumba for the Wii! i need to shake it up a bit and attack my belly fat cause it’s basically the main problem for me.  although i only lost another 2 pounds this week i have officially lost overall 33LBS!!!! and that i am happy about. I’m staying strong though, i have no real reason to stop and waist all this work. I just need more advice and determination.

If any of you have any tips or have hit the same part in everything i have lemme know give some tips i’m open to any thing!

I was 6 days into my diet, and I caved and cheated in the best way I could have cheated. There was a ton of re-make’s and leftover pizza’s at work, and my shrimp and asparagus didn’t get me as full as I had hoped, so I ate, and ate, and ate pizza until I thought I would die. I didn’t feel any guilt, or disappointment because I know that I’m only HUMAN. Besides, who the fuck was I kidding when saying that I wasn’t going to have any of my Mom’s barbecue?! Hahaha! Now that the family gathering is behind me, and the new week has begun, I know that I need to get back on track and really put my best foot forward in hopes of losing more weight and getting healthy.

I drink about 7 cups of soda a day. And no water. Maybe some juice if I’m feeling frisky. But mostly soda.

I’ve also been snacking a lot at work.

This has led to a 9 lb weight gain after an overall 32 lb loss over a year.

So for the last TWO DAYS I cut back on snacking and drank between 2-4 bottles of water and no soda.

I’ve lost 5 lbs.

For your daily dose of “things that make Athena really angry”.

I woke up this morning pretty sure I was finally going to drop below 123.0, but the food baby from last night (the Giant-est Salad In The World) means I was actually 124 instead :(

And do you know when this plateau started?  When I started chew/spitting again.  I really should give it up, but it’s just so hard to do.

I’m supposed to get my period on either Thursday night or Friday morning which means I’m going to be gaining weight which means I need to workout harder

http://undressedskeleton.tumblr.com inspired me to do this. lol love her blog

anyways although it seems silly water aerobics is actually good exercise  for you! because your making your body fight against the water and its a good way to do low cardio! i did it this morning and will every monday this summer for an hour. you may look silly doing somethings but have fun with it and join a local pools class! i recommend it and love it :)

So there is no scale in this apartment =[ trying to be good.

Wow. 4:30 in the morning and Aaron is definitely not going back to sleep. Outside the birds are just waking up. A lonely car makes the short down our one way street. My husband comes back to bed from the couch where he retreated around 1, or was it 2:00, when Aaron wouldn’t go to sleep the third time. “I’m going to sleep for another ½ an hour” he tells me. “Okay.” I scoop Aaron up. In the kitchen we make a quick bottle and then head into the living room where there is just enough space for two to work out with relative comfort. This morning I’m on my own. I turn on the tv and the PS3 we bought mostly for the Bluray features. It’s the thrum that gets me. The Beachbody, bad music, could be a porn but it’s not, that sets my blood pounding.

Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps is pretty crazy. Not because the exercises are nuts or the reps are out there, but just for sheer body fatigue. It makes me work. And sweat. And you know? I kind of like it. Aaron sits on his play mat (he’s not crawling yet, but he’s moving. He’s at a point where, even though he’s not crawling, if he wants something, he can get halfway across the room to get your phone)! He laughs at me through most of the work out. There are some exercises (like tri extensions) where he’s looking at me wide eyed and I can hear the thoughts “Really Mom? Really? That?” It’s pretty great to have an audience, even one who can’t talk. And when I fall doing push ups that require me to clap … and I fall … well, maybe I’m glad my audience can’t speak yet!

Then there’s Ab Ripper X. I get through ALL of the exercises except for Mason twists, Oblique, and Leg Grabbers, at 100%. And when I’m done I’m feeling it. This, on top of the 5k this weekend – I’m feeling it – but I’m feeling GOOD.

It’s six in the morning, I’ve worked out, and I’m ready to take on the day. Bring it, Bring it … On to diapers and work and clients and school. On to finding out what the rest of the world holds. Taking all of that on seems so much easier once I know I can take on all of this.

Hope your Monday is going well. And hey – if you want to join me, or you’re interested in trying anything out, just let me know. I’m happy to answer questions or get you a sample of Shakeology, or whatever I can do. I know I feel great – I want you to as well.

 Thanks for reading!

got off track for about almost half a month now, though it feels like a month. now, i have to restart everything over again. WTH man. so not cool. it was going great then i hit a plateau and got injured. everything sucks when you’re in rehab for an injury. you can’t do the things you normally do and at high intensity/level. having to start small and low and gradually build up. it’s messing with my mentality. i feel like i’m not doing much.

the things you got to do when injured. i hate it. it’s so hard to cut down on the food i take too since i’m not moving much. :( i’ve gained weight, i now weigh more than i ever did! ‘cause i ate the same amount of food but with less exercise. let’s up that starting tomorrow it’ll slowly go back to the way it was before all of this happened.

small goals, one at a time (no particular order):
1) no eating after 8pm
2) eat when i get to school (tuesday)
3) exercise every other day (doesn’t have to be intense of long)
4) drink more water instead of munching
5) mini workout when i wake up
6) detox once a week

“It’s not the food in your life, it’s the life in your food.”

This is the shit I come home to.

But now, at least a decade after many of us have been using cell phones, the IARC comes out and says they're "possibly carcinogenic." Why did it take so long to come to this conclusion? And, perhaps more importantly, why wasn't this work done before we all started spending 19 minutes a day talking on our cell phones?:

The truth is that for most technologies, we don’t wait around to see what the long-term effects will be. We don’t put cell phones on the shelf for a decade or so while epidemiologists carry out controlled studies on their potential carcinogenicity. Most of us — Americans especially, as native early adopters— want the new, and we worry about the potential consequences later.

via Cell Phones: How Precautionary Should Our Principles Be?, Bryan Walsh; Time Magazine

::

Why now, the article asks? Probably because it was a lot easier to sell the phones and associated (expensive!) services after diminishing the brouhaha of “paranoid” freaks who everyone knows are just “out to ruin the fun!” It flabbergasts me that the article does not suggest the financial angle a lot more than it does. Also flabbergasting is blaming the American consumer for wanting newer and better as if they pursue those wants in a vacuum.

So, we are moving next month (38 days from today). We just found out for sure that we were moving 6 days ago. I am a very stressed out person right now. We went to the new town last Wednesday to try to find a place to live. This meant we ate out for lunch and dinner so my diet wasn’t going to great for the day. Problem is, since then I can’t stop putting food in my mouth. It seems like I’ve lost all self control. I haven’t even been able to limit the diet soda I’m drinking. Usually I’m fine with one at dinner, lately I feel like I’m drinking one all day long. To be fair, I printed out a pre-made moving checklist and one of the items was “Start using up food you have stored so there is less to move”. Now I walk through the kitchen telling myself “Well, I don’t want to have to pack this”.

Tomorrow’s plan calls for lots of water, lots of veggies, and no junk.

Banana rolls and Superman/Banana are my BEST FRIEND! And so is core synergistics! My favorite position for sure is lunge-kickback-curl-press. I was rockin’ and rollin’ with my weights and sweatin’ more than Richard Simmons ever could in his short shorts.

Challenge: After this workout, attempt to sweep the floor swiftly with a broom. Tighten your core and obliques. You will feel the burn! :P

So I’ve been sick ever since I had that dish yesterday. So I had to change my plans about the whole diet. But I’m still trying to eat just healthy food, just cooked. I had an apple and a little banana though…Oh! I had watermelon as well :D teehee. The cooked food I had though was brown rice and some pinto beans. I ate the brown rice a couple of times when I was hungry. I told myself, screw my whole time limit about when I should eat and stop eating…I’m going to eat every time I feel hungry, even if it’s just a little until I’m not hungry anymore. I can’t suffer the way I did last night ever again. I was so weak and I couldn’t movie…I had a bad case of…”loose motions”…that’s how I’ll word it because I’m embarrassed about it. I also had a bad headache and felt dizzy…I even almost threw up a couple of times. I was dragging myself and I couldn’t breathe, I just felt so weak. It took me about 5 hours to feel a bit better. I still have a bit of the “loose motions” but I’m much better than yesterday. I don’t care if I have to gain weight to recover my skin and health in general.

I figured something. If my parents, well family, won’t help me with my journey and buy food I need to recover, I’m going to find a job so I can buy it myself. I think it’s the time to find a job at least until school starts again (That’s the only time my parents really give me any pocket money). At least it’ll keep me occupied and stuff for the summer and I won’t feel like a lazy butt. I thought I won’t ever get a job any time soon, not unless I finish my education…but I’m desperate to get better. I mean, finding a job is going to be quite hard these days…but I’ll try my best hunting for one.

The Unforgettable Sunscreen for Ultimate Anti-Aging: Solice Body Wash:

Article by John Sanders at 2011-06-13 07:42:53

Grey skies are gonna clear up!

I live in Los Angeles. Here, you see all types of people… those who are underweight(less than 18.5 BMI), those who are have a normal weight(from 18.5-24.9 BMI), those who are overweight(between 25 and 29.9 BMI) and those who are obese(30+ BMI).

Right now, I am borderline obese… but I was not always like this. For the most part, I eat healthy food but I have a sweet tooth and I just can’t stop drinking Coke. That and a combination of a serious lack of physical activity in my life has caused me to gain forty pounds since I graduated from high school three years ago.

My goal is to be at a 19 BMI level, meaning that I want to be even healthier than I was when I graduated from high school. It is a lot of work, but I am willing to do what ever is possible to achieve my goals.

It is estimated pneumonia and diarrhoea kill three times more children under five worldwide than malaria and HIV/AIDS combined.

Experts say the death toll is so high because developing countries cannot afford vaccines.

Today I got my treadmill, I’m super super excited to begin some legit exercise finally! I’ve lost 24.4lbs with very little exercise, so I’m excited to amp it up. The one time I lost a lot of weight in the past years and years ago it was from consistently using the treadmill.

I’m going to make myself turn into a complete exercise freak, I really want to be one of those people who claims to be “addicted” to exercise/the endorphin rush.

So for the rest of the week, I’m going to use the treadmill for a minimum of 2hrs a day. Aka 10 hrs. It will mostly be fast walking, a bit of jogging and a bit of running. With my intake I post everyday, I’ll also post my workouts and miles/km run. But I won’t post “net calories” I don’t think.

I weighed in at 239.8 lbs on sunday and I want to weigh-in at 234.6 lbs or less this sunday! Then I will have lost 30 lbs. Which will be spectacular. =]

Food wise or exercise wise, any suggestions?
