shoptalk: mixed media and bling

aurora borealis rosary - available

debuted a few weeks ago,
and in spite of not finding time
to market it, stuff is beginning
to sell.

aurora borealis vintage crescent brooch - available

Confession:
selling vintage costume jewelry means
I can continue to scour tag sales
with added incentive.

vintage pearl collar necklace - available

vintage rhinestone brooch

My art has been sold
 via word of mouth and
a Chicagoland boutique.
Etsy may or may not be a good fit
for finding homes for my collages.

Osa on Zebra collage - available

Vintage book covers were my canvas
where layers of vintage text, illustrations,
acrylics, dupioni silk, muslin, and other
embellishments tell a story.
Each piece has an original pieced together
poem constructed with random text from the
book.

Help me, I love them all.
They're vintage inspired yet modern.
Success in the marketplace
won't change
how and why I create.

one of the Big Hair collages - available

I create because it brings joy.

art can be fun - available

I create because it stretches me.

a collage inspired by faith - available

I create because I am called to.

a piece on a side table - available

I create to spread love.
And if the result pleases
someone else...

Well then,
I'd say that
constitutes
a bit of a
mind blowing
crazybeautiful
miracle.

linen, leather, and bling

...and tulle, and cork, and...

Honestly, I wasn't sure how to title
this post which is sort of a
w h i t e   m o o d
and
a study in romantic feminity
but never without some edginess
upon my dining room table.

I like the tag and silk of this vintage
pearl collar as much as the pearl side.

Vintage chocker necklace on a vintage
French linen sheet.

For this assemblage,
I incorporated a painting I did
last year called YOU which has
a very ethereal vintage feel.
The dupioni silk "x" and the safety pins
are elements I return to again and again.

Don't want to break up the romantic white mood....
but we wouldn't want anyone to worry I've gone
completely soft, right?
This print I may offer in my shop will
ease troubled minds:
but feel free to scroll right by if you want to stay in lala land!

Rude yes.
Unless you're approaching
the big M ungracefully yourself,
(this blogger struggles to find a shred of dignity some days)
you may not understand how
liberating it feels to have
two little words acknowledged.

Prayer and some sweet stuff from the doctor is cool
during this challenging transition.
i had no idea today's post would be about hormonal changes. my apologies.
this is what happens when stream of consciousness and intuitive blogging collide.
A new vintage rosary for my collection.
Not sure of age, but the aurora borealis
beads and crucifix are beautiful.

Find vintage bling at my shop.

Elie Wiesel concluded there are three paths to enlightenment:

DEVOTION (rhthymic routine of prayer and penance)
SUFFERING (experiences of great struggle and survival)
CREATIVITY (acts of creation through the arts)

Feelin this?
