Day 14

Responding to emails has been the vast majority of my day. By this moment I have written or replied to 23 emails, not to mention several handfuls of facebook posts and personal messages about when/where I’m meeting with who and a further litany of information. I still have 4 IPMP emails to respond to but alas I’m just going to write this and go to bed and deal with those tomorrow.
Highlights from today include:
- Wandering around Taipei, bought tea and a meat bun, walked thru a NOVA looking for a cover for my Sony Ericson (still no luck)
- Missing the train I needed to be on time to meet Orophin and her mum, having to borrow the cell phone of a guy on the train (See below), and getting a Sim card for my phone with them
- Dinner at Mos Burger and riding back to Orophin’s house just so I could make sure I knew what I was doing when I will have to go there alone
The guy on the train features as my best “Conversation with a Stranger” for today. After I borrowed his phone to call Orophin and tell her that I’d be a bit late to reaching Taoyuan, we talked all the way to my station. Turns out he also attended (and graduated from ??) but he graduated in 2004. After the normal introduction of why I’m here, we discussed trips to different parts of the country such as Hualian or Kenting and he agreed that since I haven’t been to Hualian yet I should go. He even had pictures on his phone to back up his statements.
Since I’ve gotten my phone card I’ve finally solidified plans to hang out with: Peter, Kiki, Amber and Angel. I have to drop off my suitcase to Orophin’s house tomorrow after noon. I will be quite happy when I no longer have to wash my underwear in the sink.
