GERRIE BREMERMANN...an inspired life

Gerrie Bremermann

This fabulous
New Orleans-based designer
whose work is consistently
superior and inspiring joins us today
for
an inspired life.

Not only does she lead
an inspired life,

for decades

G e r r i e   B r e m e r m a n n

has inspired countless others.

See how happy I felt hearing from GB?

Shhhhhhhhh! The designer's own living room...

Let's peek at some of her gorgeous interior design
and pick her gorgeous brain a bit, shall we?

Of course I asked her about honoring creativity.
It's too important an issue.

GB:
"God created man. We must be creative."

Me:
I see a connection between
creativity and the divine too.

Enchanting and such atmosphere.

She loves chairs.
And pretty billowy panels.
Lots of traditional French antiques.
And contemporary art.
With her touch and keen eye,
a synthesis of lovely
magically blooms.

My inquiry about finding lovely
in the everyday evoked a simple reply.

GB:

"Think only good thoughts."

Me:
Brings to mind what someone else said:
If you want to be unhappy
think about yourself...if you want to be
happy, think about others.

This is the photo.

The photo which practically made me weep
and the one where I discovered GB and Louisiana artist George Marks.

Anyone else remember this in Traditional Home?

Still giddy seeing this bedroom today.

The painting by George Marks
fills up my senses
and creates a tranquil dream space.
Watery aquas...umber... and all that subtlety GB captures.

What comes to the designer's mind
when she hears "beauty in imperfection?"

GB:

"Nothing is perfect."

Me:
Hmmmmm...
except the scent of a newborn,
the air just before it rains,
the sound of churchbells,
or the words "I'm sorry..."

So quietly romantic.

How important is humor
to your life and to your work?

GB:

"Laughing is better than crying."

Me:
Yep. It's important.

So classic and warm and live-able.

At the moment, what three things inspire you?

GB:

"My staff,
my clients,
and
my work."

Me:
What a lovely trio.

Shall we all release a collective sigh?
Ahhhhhhhhh.

So grateful to
Gerrie Bremermann
for graciously sharing
her thoughts here.

For decades she has delivered
timeless and personal interiors
which elevate the everyday of her clients.

Brilliant space with a painting by Amanda Talley.

You inspire us,

These inspiring images were torn in a frenzy from
TRADITIONAL HOME
years ago.

This home was designed by
Gerrie Bremermann...
simply a gem in the design world.

The designer is profiled at the site
Cote de Texas,
where we learn Bremermann favors:
white, creams, ivories, and caramels.

"Some people ask why I choose the same colors over and over again. The answer is simple: because they are timeless and they work."

Accents of french blue,
aqua, and pink
bring life and verve
to neutrals.
(Note how the dreamy George Marks abstract
in the bedroom enhances
and enriches the space so elegantly.)

French antiques, namely chairs,
are used liberally...
BUTTER MY BISCUIT,
I also love beautiful CHAIRS for seating or for not.

Who is credited for inspiring her timeless, unique style?

Classic 20th century decorators
Elsie De Wolfe, Nancy Lancaster, and Syrie Maugham.

Bremermann Designs
is located in New Orleans
(3943 Magazine Street).
