[Trigger warning for violence and terrorism.]
"On Sunday, the New York Times headlined 'As Horrors Emerged, Norway Charges Christian extremist'. A number of other news organizations like the LA Times and Reuters also played up the Christian angle. But Breivik is not a Christian. That's impossible. No one believing in Jesus commits mass murder."—Bill O'Reilly, employing the No True Scotsman fallacy in order to assert that Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik isn't a Christian because he did a supposedly un-Christian thing.
What REAL Christians do, I guess, is sexually harass people, victim-blame child survivors of sexual violence, offer up people and places he doesn't like to violence, and participate in a terrorist campaign.
Not that it's news that O'Reilly is a spectacular hypocrite with all the integrity of a Fox News presenter, but wow.

Open Thread & News Round-Up: Norway Attack
[Trigger warning for terrorism and violence.]
Here is some of the news emerging about Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian man accused of killing at least 93 people in a bomb attack and shooting rampage in Oslo and on the island of Utøya last week:
Breivik, who has admitted to being the bomber/shooter, was in court today for a custody hearing. The Guardian's live blog is here: The court "decided to remand Breivik in custody for eight weeks, as it believes there is a risk he would tamper with evidence were he released. Breivik has also provided statements that require further investigation—especially his assertion that there may be two more cells in his organisation. Judge has also agreed to the prosecution's petition for complete isolation for four weeks and a ban on letters and visitors."
CNN: Who is the suspect in the Norway attacks?
Reuters—Norway's mass killer pursuing anti-Islam crusade: "Multi-culturalism is one of the dirtiest words in Anders Behring Breivik's political vocabulary."
New York Times—Breivik Wrote of Fear of Islam and Plan for War:

New York Times—Breivik Wrote of Fear of Islam and Plan for War:
As stunned Norwegians grappled with the deadliest attack in the country since World War II, a portrait began to emerge of the suspect, Anders Behring Breivik, 32. The police identified him as a right-wing fundamentalist Christian, while acquaintances described him as a gun-loving Norwegian obsessed with what he saw as the threats of multiculturalism and Muslim immigration.I wish I had wise or comforting words for our Norwegian Shakers. All I've got is this: We are with you.
"We are not sure whether he was alone or had help," a police official, Roger Andresen, said at a televised news conference. "What we know is that he is right wing and a Christian fundamentalist."
In the 1,500-page manifesto, posted on the Web hours before the attacks, Mr. Breivik recorded a day-by-day diary of months of planning for the attacks, and claimed to be part of a small group that intended to "seize political and military control of Western European countries and implement a cultural conservative political agenda."
He predicted a conflagration that would kill or injure more than a million people, adding, "The time for dialogue is over. We gave peace a chance. The time for armed resistance has come."

Quote of the Day
[Trigger warning for homophobia, sexual violence, Christian Supremacy.]
"There isn't one single civilization that has survived that had openly embraced homosexuality. So you say, 'What's going to happen to America?' Well, if history is any guide, the same thing's gonna happen to us."—Pat Robertson, professional gay-hating wankstain, on his comedy show The 700 Club, after New York enacted marriage equality.
Earthquakes, floods, fire, brimstone, locusts, farts. Do shut up, Reverend Fucky.

I think we need to remember the term 'sodomy' came from a town known as Sodom, and Sodom was destroyed by God Almighty, and the thing that they practiced was homosexual activity, and even they tried to rape angels who came down there, so that's the kind of people they were. But, uh, beyond that, Jesus didn't—when He spoke of Sodom, he didn't say anything about the homosexuality; he talked about just the fact that business was as usual until God decided to destroy it. And he sent an angel down there, and he said to Lot and his family, 'Get out now 'cause I'm gonna destroy this whole area.' So, that's where sodomy came from. We use the term sodomy, and it means Sodom. What's it like? Well, we're heading that way as a nation. In history, there's never been a civilization ever in history that has embraced homosexuality and turned away from traditional fidelity, traditional marriage, traditional child-rearing, and has survived. There isn't one single civilization that has survived that had openly embraced homosexuality. So you say, "What's going to happen to America?" Well, if history is any guide, the same thing's gonna happen to us. [edit] It's not a pretty world we live in right now, and we need all of God's help we can get, and I don't think we are exactly setting ourselves up for his favor.[Via Right Wing Watch.]
