THIS PLACE HAS US STRAIGHT TRIPPIN', BOO!!

Funny thing happened when we developed some additional film last night-we think we found our ghost, and she is spectacular!!

Monument to the men of the 20th Maine.

As left as the Union and 20th Maine went-Union soldiers fixed bayonets and wheeled down and to the right knocking the fight out of Alabama troops that charged all afternoon to seize the pivotal position. Similar to the far right positions at Culp's Hill-this is a very creepy place when the sun starts to go down.

"Copse of Trees" facing Confederate "High Water Mark-" the only place any of Pickett's Confederates would breach the Union center before all being killed or captured effectively ending the campaign.

From Little Round Top towards Devil's Den.

Atop Little Round Top, looking right towards Union center.

Entrance to Devil's Den.

Side view of Union center of the line, adjacent to the "Copse of Trees." Little Round Top, the far left flank of the Union is seen in back middle, with Big Round Top at far right}

Sitting on the far left, until we heard what we thought were invisible horsemen approaching from where the Alabama guys were butchered. Chances are it was just squirrels-near sunset you have to ask "Do I feel lucky?," though.

Devil's Den cannon facing towards early action Wheatfield advance area.

What is left of the "Copse of Trees." Straight ahead, wayyyyyyyyy in the distance, are the woods Pickett's division emerged from under artillery, and eventually rifled musket/cannister fire.

Inside Devil's Den.

Atop Little Round Top on front face of slope.

The dog also hearing the mysterious horsemen..

The freakiest part of the Gettysburg battlefield, especially at/beyond sunset is the far left flank anchored by the 20th Maine regiment, and their commander Medal of Honor winner Joshua Chamberlain. The top two pictures are of the 20th Maine monument, and the position of the ultimate left flank unit-separated from the front slope that looks down into the Devil's Den, Peach Orchard and Wheatfield areas. It is somewhat secluded and surrounded by trees and, to us, always gives a spooky vibe as if one is lost in a forest..all alone..
