It sounds like the most exciting , especially womens', futbol match we have ever completely missed. In extra time, during the 122nd minute-likely the 'last kick' in regulation, striker Abby Wambach struck the back of the net {actually with a header}, sending the game to penalty kicks. The header was great, but the long assist right to Wambach's forehead was beyond spectacular. The USA had played a woman short for about half the game after a sketchy red card against Brazilian she-cyborg, Marta. Brazil never recovered after they had to have been sure that they were semi-finals bound, and lost 5-3 on the penalty strokes. Holy smokes, what an upset. The USA squad now faces France in the semis, which sounds like a JV match after taking down the formidable Brazilian squad after being down a player, and a goal late. Wow-she now becomes our second favorite Striker {see middle photo for our all-time favorite}!!
