TODD HEAP GONE TO THE CARDINALS; RAVENS SIGN PRO-BOWL FULLBACK.

It is hard to imagine a Ravens team without Todd Heap, but one must look at how the Ravens are really making some quality changes in the shadows of quality veteran cuts {see yesterday's post, as well}. Todd Heap now joins Kelly Gregg and Willis McGahee as 'former Ravens' now committed to new teams. Mason wants to possibly come back, but is also being courted by his original team, Tennessee, and the Ravens are now running out of cap space. The hard core NFL salary cap assures the NFL we grew up with as kids where players stay with one team until retirement is dead. Very few are like Peyton Manning, who refused to take more money so that investments could be made in other team mates to keep the Colts core together. However, if you look at what the Ravens did to solidify some things for Joe Flacco and ray Rice on offense, such as the just completed deal with Vonta Leach, deemed the best free agent fullback who was available. Starting tight end duties now fall to Ed Dickson, a 2010 third round draft pick that does show true potential. We can't help but think/know there are a lot of people looking at a purple Todd Heap jersey right now with some tears in their eyes. Until somebody else does better, Heap will remain the Ravens all-time leader in touchdowns, wit 41 glorious scores. Heap was also a solid guy, who gave his all for local charities and the local community. We are only somewhat consoled that he did not sign with arch-rivals, the NY Jets.
