The Associated Press (via NME) reports that the jacket was bought last month for £1.1m by Texan commodities broker Milton Verret at Julien's Auction House in Beverley Hills. He now plans to take the jacket around the world in an effort to help raise money for a variety of children's charities.
Verret is hoping to secure a number of corporate sponsors to help with the funding of the tour. The projected revenues raised from the sponsorship will probably come in handy as cleaning bills for leather garments tend to be that little bit more expensive than that of standard dry cleaning.
