Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson has turned down the chance to be a judge on new TV talent show 'The Voice' -- proclaiming that he took "great delight" in saying 'no'.

The BBC have won the rights to broadcast a UK version of the 'X Factor' rival, although 'The Voice' is said to focus more on pure talent rather than image.

As The Sun reports, Dickinson revealed that he was asked to be on the judging panel -- but it seems like a firm rejection was dished out.

He won't be going down the same route then as fellow rocker and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who is currently a judge on 'American Idol'.

Speaking of 'The Voice', Dickinson said: "That show sounds so crap and demeaning to everyone involved, I took great delight in turning the BBC down. The 'X Factor' is appalling enough, it's no better than 'Opportunity Knocks'."

Other names in the melting pot of rumour and suggestion include former 'X Factor' judge Cheryl Cole, Cee Lo Green and Adele, who had previously hinted about a major upcoming project in the pipeline. As previously reported by AOL Music, reports indicated that Adele is being seen as the perfect "embodiment" of what 'The Voice' is trying to achieve.
