We think America became a more shameful place yesterday, and we are scanning the headlines to try to find some funny news to add some smiles. We may have to go to the archives because there appears to be nothing but danger and sadness out there right now. In addition to the 4th of July violence at the Inner Harbor, we understand someone was doing some shooting an hour or so ago on the Baltimore /Washington Parkway just outside the exit to BWI airport, and although there are no reports of casualties that we know of, we believe portions of the Parkway are temporarily closed. Details are still emerging, but if you hated the normal traffic jams, this one will really mess up your lunch hour. UPDATE: ALL LANES OF BW PARKWAY CLOSED AS A WHITE MALE IS RUNNING AMOK HITTING/SHOOTING CARS WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER AND SHOTGUN. THE HEAT IS BAD AGAIN, AND THIS GUY BECAME UNHINGED EVEN BEFORE NOON. IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY TRYING TO GET TO THE AIRPORT-USE RT. 97 OR RT.1 AS THE BW PARKWAY HAS BECOME A SWELTERING PARKING LOT. 3:30 UPDATE: SUSPECT IS STILL ON THE LOOSE, BUT THE ROADWAY HAS RE-OPENED. APPEARS SUBJECT WAS A 65-ISH WHITE MALE, 5' 8"ISH//150 POUNDS WHO EMERGED FROM THE WOODS TOWARDS A PARKED SPEED ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE. TAPPED ON THE BACK WINDOW TO SAY HI-THEN SHATTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. SUBJECT IS SAID TO HAVE A SHOTGUN-IT DOES NOT APPEAR HE FIRED IT, AT LEAST DURING THE PRELIMINARY INCIDENT.
