BALTIMORE ORIOLES JEREMY GUTHRIE WILL PROBABLY WIN 20 GAMES WITH HIS NEXT TEAM.

It is hard to live near Baltimore these days. It makes you long for the neighborly charm and sophistication of downtown Detroit. How can one say that Baltimore is just one of many small markets that can't play competitive, or even fundamental, professional baseball when Tampa Bay was so competitive last year, and the lowly Pirates are in the current play-off hunt?? The reason is, has been and will always be Peter Angelos being the inept head of the organizational snake. The teams veteran starting ace, Jeremy Guthrie, who has given them so many quality innings while being rewarded with nothing but final scoreboard ass rape took another in the bunghole today as the Orioles squandered another fine effort, which may be Guthrie's last home start in an O's jersey.

The wall-to-wall crowd of 15, 676 {missed a sell-out by 'that' much!!} sweltered in the afternoon heat only to see an Oriole reliever, Worrell; we have yet to confirm based on the dreadful outcome whether it was Mark, or P-Funk/Talking Heads keyboard legend, Bernie, come in and throw gallons of high octane aviation fuel over what was at one time a close, competitive game. Guthrie went 7 strong, pitching in front of interested eyes from other teams such as the aforementioned Detroit and St. Louis, who may have a keen interest in his game prior to the July 31st trading deadline. This is why the Orioles continue to suffer from lameness. Even when they develop a genuine starting arm, or two, they surround the few jewels with a supporting cast of underachievers and has beens.

The loss drops Guthrie to an unthinkable, if you have seen his performances, 4-14 record. If organizational money would be spent on a genuine infield corner position clean-up hitter, or rbi producing left fielder, many of those outcomes would have either been a win, or at worst, a no decision. We have not attended an Orioles game this year, and outcomes like this just make us even more familiar with the concession workers in Bowie, Frederick and Hagerstown, instead. We may just take a page out of the Oriole's own underachieving playbook and just re post our unflattering articles from the same time last year. If it was Guthrie's last start as an Oriole, we wish him the best with his new team. He is a good guy, with a hard-working ethic, that deserves better that that which he has received.
