Universal, the global company that owns Amy Winehouse's label Island, has claimed the deceased star recorded the bases for a dozen tracks that could be released.

Since her last album 'Back to Black' came out in 2006, Winehouse struggled with addiction to drink and drugs before her death, though she went into recording studios at various points over the past two and a half years, the anonymous source said. One session acknowledged publicly was on the Caribbean island St Lucia.

The source told the Guardian that the "framework" was in place for a set of 12 unfinished songs: "Amy had expressed an interest in getting back into the studio, and after some consultation everyone thought that would be a positive thing and a distraction from the other things she was dealing with."
