Just as she's about to release her debut single, 'Swagger Jagger', Cher Lloyd has insisted that she wasn't dumped by her 'X Factor' mentor Cheryl Cole. The pair haven't seen each other since the series ended last year.

She explained to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat: "I didn't really get dumped did I? I'm working, so is she. She's busy as well. I don't know what the big deal is with that. She isn't my mum, she isn't my auntie or my sister.

"I don't think it's a big deal her staying in touch with me. That was a TV show. This is my time now."

The feisty 17-year-old also revealed that, with the exception of just one other contestant, she hasn't bothered to keep in touch with any of the other 'X Factor' hopefuls.

She said: "Basically I haven't been in touch that much with people. I get the odd text. I always make an effort to text Mary Byrne because I got on with her a lot. She's an older lady, she's wise, she took me in. But apart from that -- nothing."

She added: "I'm a busy girl. I'm getting on with my own career, I'm sure they're getting on with theirs."
