Writing on his Twitter account (via Swensson's blog), Cee Lo said: "I respect your criticism but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I'm guessing ur gay? and my masculinity offended u? well f---k U!"
Swensson subsequently re-tweeted the comment which was deemed anti-gay by her many followers. Finding himself in trouble, Green removed the post and issued a statement in an attempt to clarify the issue.
He said: "I always expect people to assume that everything I do is part of my character and sense of humor. I assumed that whoever it was would assume it was all in good fun. It wasn't taken so well, apparently. I most certainly am not harboring any sort of negative feeling toward the gay community."
Speaking to Kare11.com, Swensson warned of the dangers of posting comments that were devoid of any nuances.
"You should be totally careful about what you say because you're not able to show that you're being sarcastic or that you're laughing," she said. "It's just words and it can be interpreted in all kinds of ways."
