On this date in 1977 the BBC banned the Sex Pistols song "God Save The Queen" as a "gross example of bad taste." As is human nature, banning the expression immediately made people want to listen to it more frequently, and set the Sex Pistols on the path of renegade musical fame. The song reached number one despite not being played by the BBC. So, as our late gift to the royal family for continuing to exploit the lifeblood of the commoners so that they can continue to be out-of-touch inbreds, and just acting like priggish fools, to this day, we offer the song and images as a tribute. And stop calling us "Shirley."
