"DADDY IF ALL THAT WATER GOES INTO THOSE HOUSES, DON'T THE ALLIGATORS GO, TOO?"

A question as simple as it is terrifying. We caught up on a marathon of "Swamp People" the other day, and couldn't help but note that History/Darwin channel show is filmed in the lower swamps/bayou towns of Louisiana. The Mississippi River is proving to be a cruel mistress, and the images of flooded houses and towns is heartbreaking knowing the region has already been hit by two major hurricanes and an offshore oil rig disaster. And getting back to our original headline post question-not only is it alligators, it is likely also snakes, fish and turtles as they retreat from the rising waters in their own territory.
