Acting on a bogus tip/de facto pre-text search trying to find alcohol, Easton High School officials took Draconian action last month against two varsity lacrosse players. One was found with a pen knife in his gear bag-the other a cigarette lighter. Anybody who has played sports, especially lacrosse with the webbing in the sticks and such, knows this is a travesty of justice, and a reason "zero tolerance policies" {on ANYTHING!!} are a complete joke. See the top two photos to see how the lighter singes back the dangling strings, and a small knife may be necessary for taping/re-stringing. The 17 year-old caught with the knife in his bag on the bus heading to a game was returned to the Principal's office, subsequently arrested, handcuffed and fingerprinted and then received a ten day suspension-he had never been in trouble a day in school during his tenure there. The youth with the lighter received a one day suspension-talk about useless hyperbole; the lighter was deemed an 'explosive device.' Look around Boards of Education-you are becoming community jokes with Nazi-like tactics like this, and the people in the community may laugh if it didn't stand to taint innocent young mens' futures {if the suspension is not expunged on appeal, he will have to report the incident to any college he applies to next year} because some administrative hack can't tell the difference between a weapon and a tool. What a bloody joke!! Easton is one of the less backwards towns on the Eastern Shore-start f'ing acting like it!! Be a damn shame if someone sharp got into your county's deep pockets for this one {insert sarcasm here!}. BTW-Review suggests the small high school has one principal, three assistant principals and a school manager. In a time when we need more teachers and better textbooks, at least two or three of these 'administrators' could be cut, along with probably a dozen or more similar redundant morons from the Board of Education. What is next-Board of Ed officials going to China to learn from THEIR curriculum. Of these five EHS jabronis, we bet none have even touched a lacrosse stick. And after the 'search' no alcohol was even found!!http://www.tcps.k12.md.us/schools/easton-high/ehs-staff/
