We have always been pretty good picking the winner of the first leg of the Triple Crown, though we struggle with The Preakness and Belmont legs. This year looks more like playing Keno than picking horses-out of the twenty, the couple favorites have some questions, and about a dozen mid to long shots have a genuine chance to win the roses {and quite a lot of cash money}.The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby is tomorrow-coverage as early as 4:00 ET-post time approximately 6:24. Don't miss the horses paraded in to "My Old Kentucky Home." As far as what we see, we always look to see who Calvin Borel is riding, but his horse, Twice The Appeal hasn't shown much appeal-or capability. The two favorites, haven't received a lot of talk-up from horsemen who know, and one of them, uncle Mo, has been dealing with some infection issues. Mucho Macho Man has a great deal of sentimental appeal if you read the back story, but there are a lot of people who have lost the farm, literally, betting on sentimental appeal. And if you see a guy that looks like 'Mush" from "A Bronx Tale" {pictured above} just go ahead and tear up your tickets if you hear him cheering for the same horse you just bet!!
Bottom line is we like Soldat, with a strong shout-out to Nehro. If you are betting for the trifecta, go ahead and throw in favorite Dialed In for one of the top 3, as well. We will try to update as we can, but the race sort of sneaks up on you at mid-day tomorrow if you have busy family mornings planned.
