A Nigerian and one SouthFlorida man have been sentenced in a Federal Court in Miami,Florida for aiding, abetting and attempted smuggling of stolen vehicles from Jacksonville to Nigeria.
US district judge Marcia Morales Howard sentenced Osarobo Omorose 43 of Miami Dade county,Florida to 18months in prison while his accomplice Dennis Joseph 50,of Miami was sentenced to 180days of house arrest and three years probation.
Omorose began receiving stolen vehicles in 2007 and hid their origins by removing vehicle identification numbers and attaching new ones from scrapped cars of the same make and year.
He worked with Joseph to export the cars from Jacksonville to Nigeria through his company,Cargo maritime services before being intercepted by the FBI at the terminal with 10 vehicles scheduled for export.
