Oath swearing in a shrine is nothing new within the Nigerian political class,rumour has it that an outgoing Governor of a southwest state took most of the members of the state house of assembly to swear oath of allegiance while naked a few years ago.
But what is most disturbing is the source of this information,suspected to be the opposition party and the motive behind it.
It is no longer news that Fashola and Tinubu are enjoying an uneasy truce after a very public cold war two years ago.And BRF's victory in the upcoming election in Lagos is a forgone conclusion,rather than the opposition parties step up their game they have decided to play dirty by launching a campaign of calumny against the ACN.As they say,the end justifies the means and all is fair in love and war.
I am not saying Bola Tinubu is a saint,he's far from it but nobody gets to rise to a position of power without having a mean streak or soil their hands.
Even if Fashola was asked to swear an oath of allegiance to his godfather,and that's the price he has to pay for second term in office I bet he would gladly do it with a smile on his face.
The Governor would be the last person to disclose such a sensitive act to the public and even his kitchen cabinet not least the opposition parties.
Lagosians are the most intelligent and well informed people you can find anywhere in the world and a mischievous text message from an anonymous source would be the last thing to stop Fashola's landslide victory in the upcoming election.
