Ibori Latest: UAE Seizes His Passport; UK Sources Say Extradition Still On Course

United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities today seized his passport to frustrate any quick escape from Dubai.
Details of the "medical release" granted Ibori, who is awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom from the UAE. Ibori deposited a huge amount of cash as "surety" for himself, an unprecedented legal maneuver orchestrated by his Dubai lawyer, Ali Musabah
In two separate filings within the last two weeks, Mr. Musabah claimed that Ibori had "chronic chest infections and liver malfunction"
Ibori remains in Dubai in his house, although he did perfect his release papers at about 5:00 p.m. UAE local time on Saturday.  However, his accomplices in Nigeria and the UAE are said to be desperate to get him out at all cost, the very purpose behind the dubious medical bail granted him
UK sources today refused to discuss individual extradition cases, but a source within the UK diplomatic corps told a Naijagist correspondent they were shocked Ibori was able to acquire any form of release, no matter how limited.  He denied they were consulted by the UAE authorities regarding this development
Ibori had exploited a legal loophole in the UAE a few weeks ago by deliberately admitting that he engaged in real estate fraud  that ended in Ras al Khaimah court as a civil case. Sources said Ibori and his lawyers voluntarily admitted to engaging in a mortgage transaction malfeasance with a Dubai-based real estate developer, by design, saw him beginning a new round of civil legal trials in the UAE.
