The details

in the home of

Fitzhugh Karol

stepped right out of my dreams.

Already I'm creating
a future bedroom
accessed only by a ladder
(for the grandchildren!)
in the corners of my mind.

Everything here

appeals to my senses.

The iron, the stone,
the topiaries,
the boxwood,
and the genius sculpture
by Karol
which conjures up
memories of
tootsie rolls (J's favorite),
a unicorn,
and totem poles
from music camp days gone by.

The couple's

dining table

was crafted

from a fallen tree.

It has been confirmed with my significant other:
yes, we too will
create a dream table.
Official it is.
Someday soon our days
will be consumed with
woodworking for him,
wordworking for me.

And there will be delicious food and conversation at the table made by us.

Another perfect space.

The sculpture at right by Fitzhugh Karol
brings to mind
airplane propellers and relief and flight
and wishes that lift us away
from all weighing on us so heavily.

Glass at the stairs
took me by surprise.

Such an unexpected material
here considering the home owner's trade...
which makes the glass more delightful
as well as clean and unfussy.

And ahhhhhhh, the transom! Look at how the two expanses
of heavy glass balance each other and make the other
even more special.

Curves.

A sexy and sensual bedroom never hurts.

Simplicity and texture

of the loo's barn door

steals my breath!

It will be mine. It WILL be mine.
