Weezer, never one to skimp on promotional gimmicks, have just announced their latest stunt: The Weezer Cruise. The band will set sail from Miami and head to the Mexican isle of Cozumel on the Carnival cruise ship Destiny from Jan. 19-23, 2012. The cruise will also feature a festival-worthy lineup of bands including
Dinosaur Jr., as well as
Sebadoh,
Lou Barlow,
J Mascis (performing solo acoustic), Gene Ween and Dave Dreiwitz,
Wavves, the
Antlers,
Yuck,
Free Energy, Boom Bip, Keepaway, the Knocks,
Sleeper Agent and something dubbed the Yacht Rock Revue.
Over the course of the four-night voyage, passengers can enjoy seeing Weezer play one indoor show and one outdoor show, get their picture taken with the band and be a part of an exclusive Q&A, as well as gain general admission to the rest of the shows in the lineup. The supporting bands will be playing on various stages around the fully functional cruise liner.
