IF THERE ISN'T AN OFFICIAL 'BURN BAN' NEAR YOU-DON'T BURN ANYWAY.

The last few days have only been a lead up to the avalanche of fatal heat drifting in this afternoon and tomorrow. Temperatures could easily exceed 102, and the humidity and air quality will be wretched. Needless to say everything is very dry, and even a carelessly disposed of cigarette butt out a car window can have tragic implications. Below is an example of a recently imposed Worcester County ban, including those small, controlled fires still permitted. Quite frankly, we would be careful with fireworks and small campfires as well. A more recently issued Somerset ban allows the BBQ-but is more restrictive on other forms of burning. We are also receiving memos from local beer distributors that it is frowned upon to take a beach chair into their chilled walk-ins while taking two hours to decide which six-pack you will eventually purchase.
