We’d walked for hours through Taroko National Park, seeing beauty that you could never capture...

We were staying at this really posh hotel near Taipei 101 but it was still quite a walk to the 101. We made our way there about an hour before the New Year’s Countdown and it was an experience of a lifetime. It was just so packed with people but everyone was just moving in such an orderly manner! Walking there hand in hand, soaking up the whole atmosphere of the place, watching the fireworks and walking back (half in fear, half in exhilaration) afterwards.. there was nowhere else I’d rather be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It was New Year’s Eve. After dinner, W and I were just walking around and we somehow ended up at this random Japanese bar drinking hot sake (I’m pretty sure I will never find that place again, all I know is that it is in the Zhongxiao Fuxing area where we were staying). It was absolutely freezing that night but I felt so warm being there with an old friend talking about absolutely everything! I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We were in Danshui at sunset and it was just so beautiful sitting by the water with them, watching the sun setting, eating ice cream and just breathing in comfortable silence. V had a stomachache while we were walking along the Old Street, though, so we took the cab back to the hotel and rested. We ended up at this random steamboat restaurant for dinner. It was freezing cold that night but that walk was of so wonderful!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The first time we were at Shilin night market, it was so crowded, but the weather was perfect that night and the place was just bursting with life and chaos and my heart? It was bursting with joy, just walking around from one shop to another and people-watching. Being there with them meant the world to me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We were so lost in Yang Ming Shan it really wasn’t funny then. We ended up not trekking and just staying in the bus (having missed too many stops) but the scenery was so beautiful throughout!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It was a beautiful beach in the middle of nowhere and it was so cold and I felt so peaceful, so peaceful. I don’t know why there was barely anyone there.. But maybe, therein lies its beauty.. In its isolation, there was serenity and a calmness you couldn’t find in a crowd.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We were at this little village, I don’t remember what it’s called anymore. It was Christmas and we were watching this show performed by these wonderful little kids and then we were walking around just breathing in the night air and it was freezing and I don’t remember much of what was said but I remember that feeling so well… of being so free, so blessed, so loved, so contented, so full of life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We’d walked for hours through Taroko National Park, seeing beauty that you could never capture in photographs.. Afterwards, we were sitting by the rocks and the streams of water, drinking coffee and eating bak chang and laughing over memories of the time we’d spent together. There was one thing more beautiful than Nature, after all. Love.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
