Ten Ways To Live Healthier!

Ten Ways To Live Healthier!

1. Always choose darker breads.

The pros of multi grain are that it may leave you fuller than the white bread so you’ll be less likely to be hungry later. Also multi grain takes longer to digest and doesn’t raise your blood sugar as much as that white bread.

Refined white bread’s offer no nutritional values such as fiber’s and contain mainly added sugar’s, while multi/ wholewheat provide fiberous nutrition with minimal fat’s and sugar’s and healthier complex carbohydrates for the body to process and digest.

2. When you’re out enjoying your favourite Asian or Indian cuisine - always choose brown rice.

White rice has the outer husk (covering) removed; brown rice doesn’t, which is why it is brown. Almost all the vitamins, minerals and fiber in rice is in this outer covering - white rice is just the starch part of the rice

3. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Being even slightly dehydrated will lower your capacity to concentrate and make you more agitated. If you usually drink coffee or sugary drinks, water will give you the same concentration and energy boost and you won’t get a sugar crash OR be flooding your system with drugs.

4. If you drink alcohol, always get a slice of fresh lime!

Lime helps your liver process alcohol faster - which means you get less of a hangover.

5. Speaking of hangovers - the reason we get one is because whilst our bodies have been processing alcohol it has depleted our vitamin B!

Vitamin B helps your endorphins communicate with your brain effectively. With no B, you feel cranky and tired. Before you go to bed have a spoon full of Vegemite (if you’re from Australia). If you don’t have vegemite, a big glass of water will also help!

6. Whilst we’re still on the topic of vitamin B - ladies, getting vitamin B tablets and taking them daily will help you with PMS!

Naturally, you can get vitamin B from dark, leafy green vegetables like broccoli, spinach and kale. If you find yourself feeling depress a lot, you could also be lacking B.

7. If you drink sodas and soft drinks, try to limit them to once a week.

Like coffee, they give you a high which is quickly followed by a low. If you want to replace them altogether, try soda water with a slice of fruit for a nice, summers day drink.

8. Eat a breakfast fit for a king, eat a lunch fit for a princess and eat a dinner fit for a beggar. Big breakfasts kick-start your metabolism for the rest of the day, and by the time you sleep your stomach should be empty.

9. Get enough sleep.

You should be sleeping between 6-8 hours nightly.

10. Lastly, always speak nicely to yourself.

When you look in the mirror, speak positive words about your appearance. Remember that living a healthy life on the inside reflects on the outside.

This does not only mean eating properly and exercising, but mental health is just as important.

Love yourself and life will love you back.
