This morning started off with the great rush to get packed, showered and out of the hotel on time. I truly believe my small suitcase has never before held as much as I managed to fit in it today. Leaving my small and over stuffed suitcase with the desk people for pick up at 5 and making it out of the hotel my 10:30, I wandered around Taipei and got breakfast before deciding that since I couldn’t remember whether or not I had been to Danshui I might as well go.
Took the MRT all the way up the red line and wandered around for about an hour or so. they were doing construction or something in the park I had wanted to go to but I wandered up one of the tourist alleys and found an off-brand version of Ripley’s Believe it or not. I paid the 2.5 USD to get in and I’ll just say it definitely was an experience.
After finding my way out of an alley market I actually looked through the tourist brochures I’d picked up earlier and came across a blurb about the 2011 World Bunny Expo. When you come across something called the World Bunny Expo, you can’t not go. The Expo was cool I guess, small set up but I got to play with bunnies and I can say I went so I was pleased, but the more interesting part of that journey was what will be the Conversation with a Stranger of the day.
Leaving the subway, I was asked by a man, I would say mid 20’s, his (English) name is Dennis, if I could speak Chinese. We talked about that for a little bit then about Taipei then about a myriad of other topics, seriously we stood around and talked for like 30+ minutes. After exchanging facebook names and #’s we went our own ways. I’d kinda like to hear back from him but I’m not going to be stupid about that either. I could use another facebook friend.
I got a call from Josh and Aaren today. They’re in Taiwan now and are staying at the YMCA, surprise! I’ve moved my luggage to Orophin’s now and will stay here for the rest of my stay in Taiwan. When waiting to get my energy back up and move my ridiculously heavy small suitcase up the stairs at the underground passage between the platform at Taoyuan train station I ran into Baozi. It was nice to see her again and we were both mildly surprised.
I like Orophin’s mum and little sister, both very funny and interesting people. Dinner with them was nice tonight.
Today was one of those days where I just enjoyed being by myself and getting what I needed or wanted to get done then doing nothing I didn’t have to. That may sound selfish or crazy but sometimes its just what I need. Tomorrow I assume I’ll be going to Taipei to meet up with Aaren and Josh but if they end up busy I may just head over to Jhongli and play around till I either get bored or the schools get out.

The beautiful girls of the Taiwanese Pop group S.H.E. …I am currently obsessed with their song Super Star

I voted for Ma Ying-jeou because I thought he looked handsome in running shorts and my senile grandmother told me to and my vote cancels out your vote.
This is why Taiwan will be a province of China soon unless Taiwanese learn to value their democracy.

Waiting for ???, September 2010
(That day was quite embarassing. I didn’t speak much Chinese yet at that moment, so I totally didn’t realize that Jiro was talking to me = =+)
