AITC ENCOURAGES ALL TO EXPLORE "SOLDIERS' ANGELS" PROGRAM.

This is a program our family has been involved with for several years. In an ideal America, one would assume that the fine men and women, who give so much to be deployed overseas, have all the emotional and material support that could be provided by our government. Well , without being disrespectful, from what we understand our government often falls far too short of this goal. Essentially this program allows for individuals/families to "adopt" a soldier, or unit of soldiers, where one can provide much needed supplies, and even kind words of encouragement and love.

As we witness a war in Iraq, where Iraq still can't fend for itself and is begging us to stay longer, and a decade long quagmire in Afghanistan that will/can never truly be won despite the hearts and souls given by our military personnel, we hope to remind everyone of the continued sacrifices made by so many. Many have faced multiple deployments, lack even adequate food and beverages-let alone treats, books and DVDs, and often many don't have support systems at home to stay in touch with them via simple letters or email. We post a link to the organization below as we painfully note that at least 1,500 'heroes' are still awaiting adoption. We know times are tough for everyone here in our own nation, but can you imagine fighting in a land far away where during the summer temperatures in the troop vehicles exceed 140 degrees, even if they have air conditioning?

We hope that someday soon these heroes are all able to come back home, and stop doing the job Iraqi and Aghani young men should be doing for themselves. Note the joy in the eyes of the troops pictured above who have just received a package containing something as simple, and that which many of us take for granted, as a few boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The look in their eyes is the same as those of a starry eyed young child who has just visited the wonderful boxes under the Christmas tree.
