AITC ADVENTURE EDITOR, JOSE CANJUSI, KILLED DURING CINCO DE MAYO ALAN SHEPARD TRIBUTE.

Jose Canjusi, possibly the only survivor of our equivalent of Spinal Tap drummers to survive his original planned stunt, has perished today just prior to El Feliz Hora while trying to re-enact Alan Shepard's Freedom 7 launch, when on this date in 1961 Shepard became the first American in space. All systems were at go-The rockets were fine, the capsule was fine and the ground control was fine. Unfortunately, the tequila Canjusi drank out of a coffee mug prior to the tribute was perhaps too fine. Canjusi never made it close to the capsule door, instead he was hit on the ground by a speeding lime truck from a company owned by his mother-in-law while crossing the launch pad crosswalk against the light. He had no time to utter the famous 'Shepard's Prayer,' however, he did get the word 'fuck' out before the truck grill took him out. His loss, though tragic, means two additional steak fajitas and margarita coupons for everyone in the newsroom today. Muy bueno!!
