Houston Daycare Fire Escapee, Jessica Tata, Returns To US, Detained In Atlanta


The 22- year old Nigerian woman at the center of Houston, Texas daycare fire that killed four children returned to the US today after waiving her extradition rights.
Ms. Tata was arrested by US marshals upon her return to the US aboard a Delta airline flight into Atlanta from Lagos.  She was booked into the Fulton County jail in Atlanta.
Ms. Tata fled to Nigeria after the she was charged with offences of manslaughter and child abandonment when the daycare center under her care burnt down, ignited by a stove she left on as she shopped for groceries nearby.
Her escape and subsequent search started a round of controversy about the way the case was handled by the Harris County District Attorney.  Today, in a brief court appearance, Mr. Tata waived her extradition rights
